.@Wretch32 Takes Over Masicka’s “Whites” For New Freestyle

You can’t deny it, Masicka’sWhites” was one of the biggest Dancehall songs of 2024. The Dan Sky Records/Attomatic Records-produced track on the “Rooster Riddim” was everywhere, and continues to penetrate the streets. The track was loved by many, including UK Rapper Wretch 32. He loved it so much, that recorded a Freestyle over it.

For a little over a minute, Wretch 32 exits the G-Wagon to share a few bars over the Instrumental of Masicka’s “Whites” single. Tapping in with his Jamaican roots throughout, Wretch lets the people know he’s still a problem with the bars, and his flow is solid. The veteran Hip Hop/Grime Artist has been in the game for almost 20 years, and still has a presence that is respected. Given all the love that “Whites” has gotten, don’t be surprised if more Artists took a crack at the Riddim. Keep the flame burning Wretch 32.

When the holidays come around, many look forward to reuniting with loved ones, and making memories together. On the other side of the coin, there are many who mourn the absence of loved ones. Whether they’re lost through breakups or death, the holidays hit hard for some. For UK Artist Konan of Krept & Konan, not having certain loved ones around is painful. On “Delroy’s Son“, he has a conversation with one very special person.

In a video co-directed by Konan and Don Prod, Konan pulls up to have a conversation with his late Father, Delroy Wilson in “Delroy’s Son”. The video starts with Konan visiting his Father’s community, then sharing some words at memorial service, and during a Therapy session. He expresses how life is without his Father and how much he means to him, but shares that he has found success for himself, gives him his flowers, and assures that he will do in part in continuing the Wilson legacy. For those unfamiliar, Konan is the youngest son of Delroy Wilson, who was Jamaica’s first child star, and a legend in Ska, Reggae, and Rocksteady. Wilson was known for the hits, “Have Some Mercy“, “Better Must Come“, “Cool Operator“, “The Last Thing On My Mind“, and a cover of The Wailers’I’m Still Waiting“. “Delroy’s Son” is featured on Krept & Konan’s “Young Kingz 2“, which will be released on February 7, 2025. This Friday’s looking like it’s a day for lovers, as there have been a number of selections that promote couples enjoying some quality time. Recording Artist Lila Ike is next up with some new music, and you’re gonna be in for a treat. Earlier, she premiered the visual for the new single, “Fry Plantain“.

Directed by DJuvii, Lila Ike links up with Rapper/Actor Joey BadA$$ on “Fry Plantain”. The visual promotes that bond couples have, and throughout we see the onscreen lovers connect in a number of ways from breakfast at the Cottage, to hitting the road, to calling it an evening and night at the River and beach respectively. Produced by Protoje and D.K. the Punisher, “Fry Plantain” is a single that finds the Artists flirting throughout, painting the pictures of creating love bonds, capturing moments together, spending quality time together, and making the right moves for their future. BadA$$ previously made an appearance in Lila and Recording Artist H.E.R.’s video for their “He Loves Us Both” collab as their love interest, and we jokingly say Lila won him over here. Another big collaboration, and another love song to add to your collection.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Love Joys – All I Can Say (1981)

It’s a new month, and we’re glad to be here providing music for you to enjoy on “Oldies Sunday“. Since its inception, we’ve highlighted classic singles, guilty pleasures, underrated hits, and allowed our audience to get familiar with music they’ve never heard before. This Sunday is no different as today we feature UK-based Reggae duo Love Joys, and their single, “All I Can Say“.

Produced by Lloyd Barnes a.k.a. Bullwackie for the Wackie’s label and released in 1981, Love Joys were all about making the world a better place in “All I Can Say”. The cousin duo of Sonia Abel and Claudette Brown encouraged listeners to live a better life, call out those who do wrong, and hope and pray that things get better for us all. Over some solid production, the pair deliver conscious messages along with some melodies. “All I Can Say” was featured on their 1981 album, “Reggae Vibes“, and their official 1982 debut album “Lovers Rock (Reggae Style)“. The song became a hit for the duo, and became known in Jamaica, and various parts of the world. It was sampled in 2024 by Texas Rapper BigXThaPlug for his track “Havin Freestye“, which featured Ro$ama and Yung Hood, and produced by Tony Coles. “All I Can Say” was also featured on hit Video Game “Saints Row” through the in-game radio station.

Since the release of “All I Can Say”, not much was heard from Love Joys. The duo was recognized as one of the first all-Female Roots Reggae groups, but they disbanded in the 1980s. In the 2000s, Sonia Abel (now Sonia “Marla” Allen) would create the duo Natti Love Joys with her Husband Anthony “Jatti” Allen. “All I Can Say” is still remembered by fans, and “Saints Row” gamers.
