Accurate! Today’s mixtape comes from the collaboration of Trinidad’s Lion Twin and Jamaica’s own Kabaka Pyramid. Titled the “Kabaka Mixtape“, this is a compilation of strictly Kabaka Pyramid singles and dub plates. Fans of the Bebble Rocker will add this to their collection and I like that this has a live feel to it. Titled “Liberal Opposer” and directed by Jason Lannaman for Arawak Studios, Kabaka drops conscious lyrics about fighting for what is right, tracing his lineage to Ethiopia, and living right in every way. Accurate! Today Kabaka Pyramid released the visual for a single that has been making its rounds. The DJ Frass produced “Never Gonna Be A Slave“, which was directed by Eric Christian King and shot in Kingston, Kabaka speaks on not being a slave to the system, never selling out on his beliefs, how people suffer in the system, discrimination, and promoting consciousness. Very good video here and I like the shots where Kabaka is on top of the building and when he’s interacting with people. “The fire burning immaculate“.
