Luciano, Bushman, Capleton & More Celebrate “Garnet Silk Legacy” In Mandeville

On April 26, Mandeville was treated to something special from one of its greatest musical exports. The late Garnet Silk became a legend in a few years in Jamaica, and his early passing left behind a catalogue that exalted him to great levels. Aforementioned date was set for the first staging of the “Garnet Silk Legacy Day” event. Comprised of a fun day for the family and a night Concert held at Brooks Park, a former stomping ground for Silk, Mandeville and its surrounding areas were tuned in to the music of Silk, united in the name of community, and had a great time.

Put together by Lovey Silk (Garnet Silk’s spouse), the Smith family, and The Garnet Silk Foundation, the event was one to experience, and for those who weren’t fully familiar with Garnet Silk and his work, were given a lesson that thanks to his catalogue being selected by the legendary Ricky Trooper, and tributes by a number of Artists. Speaking of Artists, the night concert featured performances by friends, family, and those inspired by Silk including Aaron Silk (Garnet Silk’s brother), Anthony Cruz (Nephew), Garnet Jr. (Son), Luciano, Capleton, Bushman, Bongo Herman, Nature Ellis, Bugle, Droop Lion, and many more. For those who weren’t able to attend nor tuned in to our TikTok Live Broadcast, check out highlights of the event below, and look forward to its 2nd staging next year. Dinho Celebrates Love With “Fallen For You”

New love is found everyday, and it’s a beautiful thing. While some focus on the Valentine’s Day kind of love, others are trying to love every day of the year. Manchester-raised/Montego Bay-based Recording Artist Dinho o/c Dinho Da RastaMan found himself in a love situation, and tells us about it in, “Fallen For You“.

Produced by World Universal Records, Dinho is smitten by new love in, “Fallen For You”. He expresses the joy that comes with this newfound love, and assures his lover that this is something too special to mess up. The track is accompanied by a Music Video directed by Dario Shields, and it finds the Artist first making a connection with his love interest played by Ashena Porter, to them getting closer throughout. From a chance meeting, to video calls, to quiet nights together, the love has found Dinho in a big way. Currentzicks Tackles The “Perdix Chicken” Situation On New Single

A few days ago, Jamaica was greeted with a lost Shipping Container loaded with a few things, and it quickly became a trending topic. Inside the container was a few packages of “Perdix“-branded Chicken from Brazil, and people dove in to get their share. What followed later was a report of the chickens being unsafe for consumption, and arguments ensued. While others are waiting for reports of sickness and possible deaths from the salvaged meat, Mandeville-based Dancehall Artist Currentzicks used the time to speak on the situation. Tune in to, “Perdix Chicken“.

Produced by Steel Chest, Currentzicks shares his observations on “Perdix Chicken”. He gets into the discussion where people are being warned about the possible effects of consuming the chicken, where others discuss the number of ways they’ve prepared theirs for dinner. The chicken topic is very divided and active, and it’s only a matter of time before we hear more good and bad about it. Currentzicks takes it further with a Music Video directed by Saii Media Group, and the Deejay and Steel Chest show up at the Shipping Container’s location at Hellshire coastline in Portmore, St. Catherine. The Deejay even brings along his pet John Crow, an Animal that has been a topic of discussion for the Deejay earlier this year, to get its taste of the meat. Dancehall Music was made to cover daily observations and experiences, and Currentzicks is just another messenger. Be safe out there.

A couple weeks ago, Dancehall Artist Kacique shared his new single, “Light“. Since then, it was been gaining traction online, with many relating to the lyrics and the Deejay’s “No New Friends” policy. He recently followed up with the Music Video for the single.

Directed by OneSpinn, Kacique further emphasizes his points in the video for “Light”. The video’s dark presentation reflects on how the world can be a dark place, the Deejay finds his light, and continues his journey throughout. As previously mentioned, “Light” has found favour with many listeners since its release, and there may be a possibility that it will be a part of new project from the Deejay. Dancehall Artist Kacique has accomplished a few things in life, and is grateful for the success he has received so far. He has worked hard for what he wanted, and he’s not about to let anyone nor anything take it away. He has a new policy that he shares with the world in, “Light“.

Produced by OneSpinn/Kaboom Music, Kacique has a “No New Friends” policy to enforce in his “Light” single. For those who think that they can get in on Kacique’s success, that door has been closed to all outsiders. To all the Women who rejected him on his come up and now want to be all over him, that access will be denied. The Deejay has a few choice words for those people, and he will keep it moving as he continues to elevate his life. It’s nothing new when success breeds new friends, but not every friend is a real one, and the real day ones are those who will get their blessings. On the night of Friday January 24, the Parish of Manchester was the stage for Deejays and Singers to perform at the first staging of the “Born To Shine Talent Search“. Organized by Texroy Elliott and the Born To Shine Committee and held at the Mandeville Primary & Jnr High School, a lot of potential stars showed up to secure the ultimate prize, $1 Million in cash, and a Record Deal. Judges for the event consisted of Producers DJ Mac and Steel Chest, Selector/Media Personality/Producer ZJ Sparks, and Dancehall Icon Bounty Killa, and over 100 Artists participated at the event. In the end, three Artists emerged in Dawk9ine, TrapKween, and Spikey, and Spikey took home the winnings. Before the winner was picked however, Dancehall Artists Fresh King, XKappe, Kraff, and Bounty Killa performed for the people.
