OLDIES SUNDAY: Mystic Revealers – Got To Be A Better Way (1991)

The world is troubled, and there’s a lot going on. Every day there’s some sort of conflict in family, friendships, and relationships. People are lead astray from all types of individuals and platforms, and even the most conscious or morally upstanding person can be corrupted. It’s a crazy world out there. Today’s Oldies Sunday selection comes from a Band that has delivered songs that aimed to make the listener more conscious of themselves, and more aware of what’s going on in the world. We go back in time to hear Mystic Revealers’Got To Be A Better Way“.

The self-produced “Got To Be A Better Way” was released through Sonic Sounds in 1991, and it finds Mystic Revealers seeking a way out of this world that has been tarnished for so long. They speak about wars, corrupt Politicians, poverty, hypocrisy, and they plead for the people to unite and develop solutions for a more positive world. The song was lead vocally by Billy “Mystic” Wilmot, and when performed live featured some deejaying by Dancehall Artist Angie Angel (the original version doesn’t contain her vocals, but it was somewhat sampled/remixed for a version with her called “What A Galang). “Got To Be A Better Way” quickly became a hit for the Band locally, and was recognized internationally as it was released through MCA Records. The track was performed at Reggae Sunsplash, was featured on their 1993 album, “Jah Works“, and later on their 2015 “Crucial Cuts” compilation.

Mystic Revealers took their share of hiatuses over the years, but since the release of “Got To Be A Better Way”, they went on to release a number of singles and albums, and toured until a hiatus in the early 2000s. Lead Vocalist Billy Mystic went on to become a brand himself as he founded the Jamaica Surfing Association, opening the doors for the Caribbean’s Pro Surfing culture, and thanks to his acting prowess became a star on the popular Jamaican Soap Opera series “Royal Palm Estate” as the character “CC“. Mystic Revealers reconnected in the 2010s, released albums in 2015 and 2020. “Got To Be A Better Way” remains one of their most recognized singles.

Thank You Mystic Revealers For This Hit!

Yaksta x Something D'Lux - "Brandz Out" 13thStreetPromotions.com #Jamaica #Dancehall #13thStreetPromotions #Yaksta #SomethingDLux #BrandzOut #MusicVideo #Caribbean

.@OfficialYaksta Highlights Consumerism In “Brandz Out”

Dancehall/Reggae Recording Artist Yaksta keeps the wheels in motion for his career, and being busy is an understatement. From releasing and promoting his debut album “22“, to performing on various stages locally and Internationally, to following up with new content, Yaksta and his team are handling business. For his latest single “Brandz Out“, he tackles another type of business.

Done in collaboration with Zach Staggers and Eitan Noyze a.k.a. Something D’Lux, Yaksta tackles consumerism, and the people who indulge in it. While many are slaves to name brands, he speaks about the ladies who own the scene when it comes to luxury fits. The accompanied music video was handled by Something D’Lux/Llama/Chris Elia, and it finds Yaksta in the roles of a Janitor at the Mall, and a consumer who can be seen shopping with the ladies. Sometimes it’s all about buying the brand you can trust, other times it’s all about keeping up with the Joneses, either way someone’s making the money. Ready for more Yaksta? Stay tuned for more in the coming weeks.

.@ShenYeng Joins @BustaRhymes & @ChrisBrown On “Open Wide” Track

Hip Hop legend Busta Rhymes continues to build more roads in his legacy, with his latest project being the new album, “Blockbusta“. The 19 track album finds him tapping into various sounds and influences, and is still delivering like the Dungeon Dragon he is. One thing he doesn’t leave out is his Jamaican influence. He sprinkles it throughout, but he does one better and enlists Shenseea on the track, “Open Wide“.

Produced by ANATII and featuring Chris Brown, Busta Rhymes gives us another one of his R&B-styled tunes that’s aimed at the ladies with “Open Wide”. CB gives us a few lines along with delivering his signature melodies on the chorus, and Shenseea flexes with her vocals as well as sneaks in a few slick lines as she takes on 2 giants in music. Shenseea continues to make her International run an active one, despite what the conversations have been saying about her progress. With a sophomore album on the horizon, we expect to hear even more from “Shen Yeng“. Busta Rhymes’ “Blockbusta” album is out now!

.@RoshReignMusic Gets Caught Up In A “Sticky Situation”

Jamaican Songstress Rosh Reign is steadily becoming a household name, and has been providing great music for the world to enjoy. She had the people talking thanks to a successful EP release and a high profile collaboration earlier this year, and has a few surprises in store that will open more doors for her. Until then, she has to get out of a “Sticky Situation”.

Working for the first time with longtime friend RomieIkon, Rosh Reign gets caught up in a tough decision-making scenario in “Sticky Situation”. With love in the mix, she is having a tough time choosing the right person for her heart. Rosh belts out sweet vocals over R&B-inspired Dancehall production, and she reels in her listeners as she contemplates on her current dilemma. “Sticky Situation” is the latest release off the “Channel 28 Riddim”, which was produced by RomieIkon and Legendary Lex, with mixing done by Sojie Vybz. The Riddim was released as a compilation on February 14, 2022, and has amassed over 3 Million streams since then. North American label King Addies Music was brought onboard for the Riddim’s global promotion. During the Riddim’s 1st anniversary celebration, it was announced that Rosh would be the latest addition for a new phase of releases. Her inclusion looks to connect with more listeners in new territories, and lead “Channel 28” to even more success.

Formerly known as Rosh Rebel, Rosh Reign has been in the music scene for a number of years as a recording, and performing Artist as she has gained notoriety for her riveting live performances. Currently managed by City Rock Entertainment, she has a handful of strong releases, and is on a mission to become a dominant force in Jamaica, and the rest of the world.
