OLDIES SUNDAY: Errol Dunkley – Black Cinderella (1972)

Today’s Oldies Sunday selection comes from Reggae Musician, Errol Dunkley. Titled “Black Cinderella“, this was produced by Jimmy Rodway for Fe Me Time Records in 1972. Errol considered it a tribute to hard working black women, but it sounded more like a love song than the aforementioned idea. The creation for this came about when Jimmy introduced Errol to one of his poems of the same name. After some adjustments, Errol recorded the single and it immediately became a hit in a time of Black Empowerment.

Featuring Five Steez, Jane Macgizmo, Rseenal and Gully Cash, patrons were entertained by the talent showcased and witnessed another rise in Jamaican Hip Hop. Making an appearance on the “Lovers’ Edition” of Onstage is the “Hot Ras“, I Octane. Here he spoke on his career so far, touring, getting a lot of buzz with his new music, thoughts on love, playing Guidance Counselor, and more. He also premiered his “Gyal Ting” music video and performed a few songs. There’s no stopping in I Octane now as he continues to make hit after hit and “Conquer The Globe“. Love is in the air, and bringing it to Onstage is the Dancehall Diva Tifa! Here she spoke on “Jealous Ova” with Dexta Daps, working on new music, love, and looking to have a great 2015. She also performed a few songs including something for Valentine’s Day and premiered the “Jealous Ova” music video. After premiering it on Onstage, Tifa and Dexta Daps’ “Jealous Ova” music video is here! Directed by The Creative Inc., we see Tifa and Dexta getting their dancing on at the beach with party patrons, episodes of jealousy between both parties, lots of Belaire Rose and cameo appearances from Kray Z, Selector Razz, and Tifa the Mermaid. Great video here, the song is hot and got an even hotter music video. I like the twist at the end where Dexta Daps was actually asleep on the beach.
