Produced by Johnny Keys, Lisa Banton sings about the new love she has in her life, and the many ways he has affected her life. From piecing together her broken heart, to him being a topic of all her discussions, to being so addicted to him and his love, she expresses it all in a very soulful way. With a powerful delivery, she makes you feel that love she’s been enjoying, and it’s definitely his fault. A singer who has been on the scene for little over ten years, she has been putting it the work with her various R&B and Pop releases, and has been a performer who leaves nothing but great impressions. King Cruff Gets Into A “Blackberry Groove” On Latest Single!

Canada based Rapper King Cruff (f.k.a. Solyd Roy) has been keeping himself busy this year. While his output wasn’t heavy early on, he looks to make a statement with upcoming releases. One of the releases is the new single called, “Blackberry Groove“.

Produced by Teej a.k.a. Teej Made The Beat, King Cruff put together a track will surely light a fire in you to get moving. With a bass heavy production, this will rattle speakers, rooms, and your ear drums. When speaking about the creative process for the track, King Cruff shared, “I always find it interesting when a song has the overall vibe of being happy, but when you really pree the lyrics, there’s a touch of melancholy in there. That’s exactly how Blackberry Groove came about. When me and Smoothe locked into the studio session, I was feeling a bit disconnected from everything around me. So I tapped into that feeling, and wrote lyrics that would uplift myself, and anybody else who has that type of anxiety“. Accompanying the single is a music video directed by Lighter Juice that plays around with a lot of 3D work. Whether performing at the beach or running with the Lions, King Cruff brings new energy and vibes, and wants to get you into a “Blackberry Groove”! Be on the lookout for more from King Cruff!

On September 11, 2020, the world lost a legend named Toots Hibbert. A pioneer in Jamaican music, he has been heralded near and far as the inventor of Reggae. His contributions to music are vast, and he and The Maytals have inspired generations. Up until news of his failing health, he was working on music and performing. Yesterday we paid tribute to him by highlighting the song that gave Reggae its name. Today, we highlight some of the songs that sampled and covered Toots & The Maytals through our latest Playlist.

From Foxy Brown, to Vanilla Ice, to Tone-Loc, to Lucky Dube, to Romain Virgo, you can relive the moments you’ve heard the classic singles, and learn about the music that paid homage to the classics. Frederick Nathaniel Hibbert paved the way for many, and we respect and honour him over here. Thank you for your life, your music, and your energy Toots Hibbert. Walk good!

Today’s Oldies Sunday is dedicated to the late Frederick “Toots” Hibbert. A man who knew a thing or few about longevity, Toots Hibbert is the originator of the genre we know as “Reggae“. A man who inspired generations, created hits, and looked good doing it all, the world was definitely rocked when he made his transition on September 11. As founder and member of The Maytals, today we highlight the selection, “Do The Reggay“.

Produced by Leslie Kong and released through the Beverley’s Records in 1968, “Do The Reggay” was made to accompany a popular dance of the same name. While the song didn’t feature complex lyrics, it provided fun sounds that prompted listeners to get into a groove. Through the release of the single, Toots Hibbert is named as a pioneer of Reggae music as “Do The Reggay” marked a shift from the Ska and Rocksteady eras of music into a new genre of more upbeat sounds, and generations of new artists.

Today, regardless of anything, we just want you to enjoy the music, and remember one of the greatest artists to ever emerge from Jamaica. Rest in Peace Toots Hibbert, and thank you for the classics! Following up his 2019 “New Topic” project with the “Kingston To Naptown” project earlier this year along with numerous singles, he’s on a mission to keep his name buzzing all year round. Recently, he announced the “Project Breaking Through” album, and he gave listeners a dose of new music with the single, “Can’t Forget That“.

Produced by Big Beats Productions and released through Awah Nation, the single features Recording Artist Mz. Monies. On the track, they keep the temperatures rising as they trade sensual lyrics to each other. With “Quarantine and Chill” being a thing for a few couples out there, “Can’t Forget That” makes a great addition to the sexy Dancehall Playlists out there.
