Jamaican Author Marlon James, the mind behind the multi-award-winning “A Brief History of Seven Killings” book among several other literary works, is ready to take his creativity to new arenas as he gets into Filmmaking. In December 2021, he announced that he will be writing and executive producing a TV series called, “Get Millie Black“, that was focused on Jamaica and the UK. After all the writing, the casting, the shooting, and the post production, the series will be aired on HBO in the US, and on Channel 4 in the UK come November!

“Get Millie Black” stars Tamara Lawrance, Joe Dempsie, Gershwyn Eustache Jnr, and Chyna McQueen, the series focuses on Jamaican-born Detective Millie-Jean Black as she is exiled out of Scotland Yard, taking up a role in the Jamaican Police Force. Along with Curtis (played by Dempsie), she investigates missing person cases, but one particular case stands out, and her pursuit to solve it looks to take a huge impact on her life. The series was shot in Jamaica and parts of London in 2022, and aims to give the world even more coverage of content that has a focus on Jamaica. Former Dancehall Artist Lady Patra will guest star in the series, and a number of Jamaicans participated in the making of the series including popular Video Director Djuvane “DJuvii” Armstrong, and prominent Director Tanya Hamilton, who has at the helm of the entire series. For those who need a new TV show fix, stay tuned as “Get Millie Black” is set to go live on November 25 on HBO, HBO Max, and Channel 4.

The Summer may be coming to an end, but that doesn’t mean the festivities can’t continue. Recently, Drum & Bass Band Rudimental has added to the outside vibes with new music. They emphasize on the “outside” part with the visual for their new tune, “Ram Pam“.

Featuring Recording Artist Mystic Marley and UK Grime Artist Flowdan, Rudimental turns up the energy with “Ram Pam”. Mystic and Flowdan contribute with lyrics and great vibes, and you can help but feel charged up to this one. If you were a part of the recently-held Notting Hill Carnival in the UK, you may have seen Mystic connecting with the people in the streets, and Flowdan performing as we get a Visualizer to accompany the track. For those unfamiliar, Rudimental is a Platinum selling Band who has collaborated with Ed Sheeran, Stefflon Don, and Protoje, Flowdan is the first Grime Artist to win a GRAMMY and has enjoyed a successful career as an Artist and Producer, and Mystic Marley is the Daughter of Stephen Marley who made her debut in 2021 with the single, “Sad Girls (Cause Damage)“. Get to dancing to the big sound!

There’s a party going on somewhere, and best believe some Dancehall Music is playing. UK Rapper Chip looks to add to the vibes bring the Dancehall vibes to his people. Just in time for the Notting Hill Carnival, he shares the video for the single, “Gyalis Pree“.

Directed by Chip and BDot, Chip has his focus on the Women, the liquor, and some good times all around in the video for, “Gyalis Pree”. One of the latest acts to tackle DJ Frass’ “Party Bus Riddim“, Chip is here for a nice time, and you’re encouraged to get the Casamigos and the Dragon Stouts, get the ladies in the mood, and have everyone to party with you. Earlier this year, she gained popularity for her Dess Dior-featured single, “Favourite Girl“. The track sampled the classic “Diwali Riddim” by Lenky Marsden, and the single has been getting heavy airplay around the world. Keeping the momentum going, she follows up with the “Favourite Girl (Remix)“.

Featuring Nigerian Singer/Rapper Rema, Darkoo continues with the vibes on “Favourite Girl (Remix)”. With a music video shot by JM Films, they take it to the club where it’s a sea of party goers, and lots of thrilling times. Darkoo finds herself with the ladies, while Rema pops bottles, and they keep the energy up. With a likkle Dancehall vibes, you can’t go wrong, and “Favourite Girl” will enjoy a longer shelf life. Janeel Mills Covers An Amy Winehouse Classic In “Johnny”

Jamaican Songbird Janeel Mills has been blessing the world with her voice, and gracing stages for a number of years. She has worked with some of your favourite Artists, and special moments are made instantly when she sings her first note. Recently, she tapped into one of her musical inspirations for a track called, “Johnny“.

Produced by Makiri Whyte, Janeel Mills channels the late Amy Winehouse in “Johnny”. Covering the 2007 hit single “Valerie“, Mills gives us a different perspective with her cover as she speaks of a Man she loves. “Valerie” was originally recorded by English Indie Rock Band The Zutons in 2006, but was covered the same year by Winehouse, and released in 2007 as a collaboration with Producer Mark Ronson. The song went on to go 3x Platinum. Mills not only does the cover justice, but give it a Reggae feel from its original Pop/Jazz sound. Accompanying the track is a Music Video directed by Ifidel Williams, and it finds Janeel reminiscing on the good times with her lover, in between solo performances of the track. Tune in to something that will bring some calm your way. R.I.P. Amy Winehouse.

Badness doesn’t take day offs, but it can take trips. From yawd to abroad, there are many who uphold certain orders, and keep it gangsta. St. Thomas native Chronic Law knows about the badness, and he brings along a friend to let you know what can happen in, “Top Bwoy“.

Featuring UK Rapper M24, Chronic Law’s “Top Bwoy” is the Brixton/St. Thomas link up, and is the first release off of the upcoming “Yaard Drill Riddim” which was produced by Urban Gurillaz Entertainment, and Eastern Entertainment. The “Law Boss” and M24 bring plenty badness that will have rival gangs paranoid, and them being extra cautious. Dancehall meets UK Drill here, and may make way a lot more collaborations. Accompanying the track is a Music Video directed by G Team, and the Artists mean business. M24 has been on the scene for a number of years, and is known for a number of singles including the breakout single, “We Don’t Dance“. Chronic Law continues to release music at a rapid rate, and he has outworked many out there. Sully and Dushane badness.
