.@MusicalYouth30’s “Pass The Dutchie” Featured In New @SouthPark Episode!

This Generation rules the Nation…with VERSION!

Where are the South Park fans? The series has recently kicked off their 23rd season, and last week celebrated their 300th episode! Continuing their “Tegridy Farms” story from last season, Wednesday’s episode tackled Marijuana and Plant-based meals in “Let Them Eat Goo“. During a later part in the episode, the character Randy Marsh and Towelie got themselves in some cow related problems after setting up shop for their own line of Plant-based “Impossible Burgers“. How did they handle that problem? By first getting high, and taking care of business to the tune of the 1982 Reggae classic, “Pass The Dutchie” by Musical Youth!

Produced by Peter Collins, this is a song about facing extreme poverty. This song was redone version of the Mighty Diamonds’ hit “Pass The Kutchie. More info on the track can be found here. The single has been been a historic one as it helped with Musical Youth being the first black group to have appeared in a Studio segment on MTV.

It’s not secret that Kyng Tavii is a huge Alkaline fan, so much so that the Deejay has inspired many of his skits and music. Today’s entry is no different as he was requested to make a video with the “Detta Boss” in mind. In “Dear Alkaline“, Kyng Tavii parodies Rapper Eminem’s infamous track, “Stan“, to share his love for Alkaline. He shared his ups and downs as a fan, even including taking his side when Alkaline beefed with Vybz Kartel and Popcaan. He even mentioned being a proud Stepfather for a child that Alkaline made with his girlfriend.

Which Artist can you say you’re a huge fan of? Who do you stan? Share with us! Good to see Kyng Tavii putting out some comedic content again, as he has been having a rough time in recent months. Let’s hope he keeps it up. Check out the video below, and share with a friend. Show us some love/follow us on Twitter and Instagram at @13thStreetPromo.

That sweet Reggae music continues to seep through some of your favourite shows, and it won’t stop anytime soon. Recently, the 3rd season of the FOX TV show “9-1-1” premiered, and fans of the show were overjoyed. With stars like Angela Bassett and Jennifer Love Hewitt, the series follows the lives of Los Angeles first responders: Police Officers, Paramedics, Firefighters, and Dispatchers. On the premiere episode, viewers got a double dose of Reggae as Jamaican Band Toots & The Maytals and UK Band The English Beat’s music were featured.

Toots and The Maytals were the first to bat as their classic track, “54-46 Was My Number” was featured in a scene, then The English Beat’s “Doors Of Your Heart” followed soon after in another. “54-46” was released in 1968 and 1969, and produced by Leslie Kong. It has been sampled by Rapper Foxy Brown, Major Lazer, and Christiana Aguilera. “Doors Of Your Heart” was released in 1981, and was featured on the Band’s Sophomore album, “Wha’ppen?“.

(Special thanks to Genelle Golding for the find 😉)

If you’re from the Caribbean, raise those flags up and rep your Island! If you’re born to Immigrant parents, raise those flags as well! Celebrating their Caribbean heritage today are Pro Era Rappers CJ Fly and Joey Bada$$ on “Rudebwoy“!

With the video directed by David Janoff, it was shot in Flatbush, Brooklyn and at the infamous Miss Lilly’s West Indian Restaurant. With flags waving, and Caribbean vibes flowing throughout the video, CJ Fly and Joey Bada$$ tackle the Statik Selektah production to show off their “Rudebwoy” styles, and show love to Islands that influenced their lives so much (CJ shares a Bajan/Jamaican background, while Joey shares a St. Lucian/Jamaican background).

While CJ Fly has been busy recording for himself and his BEASTCOAST crew, he’s also looking to release a full length “Rudebwoy” project soon. Joey Bada$$ on the other hand has been finding himself in campaigns for Paco Rabanne, and is currently working on new music. Check out the video below, and share with a friend. .@BussPipe Teams Up With Hip Hop Legend @TheRealRedman On “Black Man In America”!

With close to 30 years in, the legendary Rapper Redman is still getting busy with the bars. Today, he feeds the streets with the visual for “Black Man In America“! Reaching for assistance from the Caribbean, he recruited USVI Recording Artist Pressure who adds his unique sound delivery to the Rick Rock produced track. The video, which was directed by Redman himself, sheds light on the things many black people go through in the US, and finds the Gilla House General further sealing his status as a legendary MC.

While Redman has announced his “Muddy Waters, Too” album sometime ago, we hope this track is a sign that it will finally see the light of day. Until then, check out the video below, and share with a friend. Follow us/show us some love on Twitter and Instagram at @13thStreetPromo.
