Jamaican Producer Izy Beats is on a roll. Having lent his sound to Artists like Tarrus Riley, Koffee, Popeye Caution, and David Lyn, he has been enjoying quite the buzz in the past few months as a result of that. Recently, he along with UK Producer Cadenza, teamed up with Pop Artist Jorja Smith and Afrobeats Artist Burna Boy for the hit, “Be Honest“. While it’s enjoying its run on various music charts, Izy Beats got in front of the camera to give viewers his beat breakdown. Presented by Universal Music Publishing Group, Izy gave us the BTS look at the many elements that make that sweet production.

If you’re from the Caribbean, raise those flags up and rep your Island! If you’re born to Immigrant parents, raise those flags as well! Celebrating their Caribbean heritage today are Pro Era Rappers CJ Fly and Joey Bada$$ on “Rudebwoy“!

With the video directed by David Janoff, it was shot in Flatbush, Brooklyn and at the infamous Miss Lilly’s West Indian Restaurant. With flags waving, and Caribbean vibes flowing throughout the video, CJ Fly and Joey Bada$$ tackle the Statik Selektah production to show off their “Rudebwoy” styles, and show love to Islands that influenced their lives so much (CJ shares a Bajan/Jamaican background, while Joey shares a St. Lucian/Jamaican background).

While CJ Fly has been busy recording for himself and his BEASTCOAST crew, he’s also looking to release a full length “Rudebwoy” project soon. Joey Bada$$ on the other hand has been finding himself in campaigns for Paco Rabanne, and is currently working on new music. Check out the video below, and share with a friend. With close to 30 years in, the legendary Rapper Redman is still getting busy with the bars. Today, he feeds the streets with the visual for “Black Man In America“! Reaching for assistance from the Caribbean, he recruited USVI Recording Artist Pressure who adds his unique sound delivery to the Rick Rock produced track. The video, which was directed by Redman himself, sheds light on the things many black people go through in the US, and finds the Gilla House General further sealing his status as a legendary MC.

When you’ve had a long day on the road or at work, there’s nothing better than coming home to relax. We have many ways to relax, we fall asleep immediately on the couch or bed, we take a bath or shower, or we get some wine or beer. In Beer giant Coors’ latest Commercial for their Light Beer, one woman not only cracks a can of Beer to relax, but she takes off her Bra! While many women can relate to letting the Tatas be free, we recognized the Commercial’s soundtrack, “Pressure Drop” by the legendary Toots & The Maytals! Released in 1969, this was produced by Leslie Kong and featured on the Band’s “Monkey Man” (1970) and “From The Roots” (1973) albums. The song helped Toots & The Maytals gain International recognition as it was featured in the classic Film, “The Harder They Come” (which was recently released on Blu-ray).

A song about revenge, but in the form of Karma, “Pressure Drop” became one of Toots & The Maytals’ most memorable singles, and was included in Rolling Stone’s “500 Greatest Songs Of All Time” list at #453. I know many of our readers are familiar with Recording Artist Gyptian, but do you remember his hit, “Hold Yuh“? That song was everywhere, and with Nicki Minaj hopping on it for a remix, it became a song that has lived on many DJ sets worldwide. Today, we found out that Puerto Rican Recording Artist Rauw Alejandro sampled the track on his Farruko featured, “Fantasías“. Produced by Urba and Rome and released through Duars Entertainment, Rauw borrowed the chorus’ cadence from Gyptian’s hit and switched up the lyrics for his latest banger. With Farruko adding his flair on the track, expect this one to do some numbers! Can we get Gyptian remixing this track in Spanish too?

The catchphrase may be, “Izy, are you kidding me?“, but Jamaican Producer Izy Beats is not playing around this year. With 2018 seeing him produce Koffee’s smash hit, “Toast“, Izy has been on a run of producing some dope things. From working with Charly Black, to working with Vybz Kartel, to releasing an EP with Tarrus Riley, to working with US R&B Artist Neyo, Izy Beats adds UK Pop star Jorja Smith to his resumé with the track, “Be Honest“! Featuring Burna Boy and co-production with UK Producer Cadenza, we get a fun track filled with Dancehall and Afrobeat influences, and Jorja and Burna showing great chemistry.
