Rygin King Reflects On “Inna Mi Mind”

Emerging Dancehall Artist Rygin King has proven that he has staying power. As one of the Artistes who made a difference with the singles “Tuff”, and “Feel Like This (Big Toe)” in the late 2010s, the Montego Bay based Artist continues to grow his brand, and his fanbase locally, and internationally. While there are good times to celebrate, the bad times aren’t too far, and he shares his thoughts in the video for his “Inna Mi Mind” single.

Directed by the acclaimed Terminal 4 Media, Rygin King reflects on some of his various tribulations in the “Inna Mi Mind” video, but is staying strong with the mindset that he is a fighter who will overcome all challenges. The video sees him at multiple locations speaking his mind, with one scene highlighting different times in his life through broken pieces of glass. Having been a survivor of gun violence in 2020, Rygin King has emerged better than ever, with the grace to make the life for himself and others even better. The single was produced by Zukie Records, and released in May 2021. It has enjoyed thousands of streams on music streaming platforms so far, and the music video looks to gradually boost the numbers. A multi-faceted Artist, “Inna Mi Mind” is one of the more introspective songs from Rygin King, as he has shared that he’ll be releasing more conscious music in the future.

.@ChrisMalachi Shows Another Side Of Paradise On “Everything Cool”

Remember seeing those travel commercials inviting you to come to the Caribbean? How about those about coming to Jamaica? Yes the Island is a home away from home, and is indeed a paradise, but have you ever taken a look into how the residents are living outside the Hotels and Resorts that you’re used to? Well, Recording Artist Chris Malachi wants to give you a first hand look into life inside  “Paradise” on “Everything Cool“!

Produced by Koastal Kings, Chris Malachi’s “Everything Cool” is far from all that “Tropical” vibes foreigners speak of. You are in for a surprise if you thought this was a party song. While Tourists can get fat and lazy on the white sand beaches with a few Red Stripes in the cooler, Chris sheds a light on what Jamaicans are going through daily. Chris’ delivery is great as always on “Everything Cool”, and this is an important song that puts the island and the leaders under a microscope. From rising crime, to classism, to the Government failing the people, to a bad economy, the single and video will wake up many, and a change needs to happen.

Accompanying the single is a music video directed by Chris and Maya Wilkinson that was so beautifully presented, that even the Jamaica Tourist Board would blush. The video isn’t without a great cast which include Shernette Higgins, Koastal KingsBernard Hasenbichler, O’Neil Dacres, and the legendary Owen “Blakka” EllisChris Malachi cleverly promoted the single through a series of Tourism related content that was reminiscent of the “Kool Runnings” and “Come Back To Jamaica” eras, and he has a lot more in store in the coming days. Who is gonna fight for us?

.@RyginKingO Covers The Classic “Stop That Train” With The Late U-Roy!

In February 2021, the world lost a Music legend, and a Jamaican Icon named Ewart “U-Roy” Beckford. A man who has greatly contributed to the ever changing musical landscape, you can call him the Originator of how you put the lyrics together. While the world misses him, there were talks about putting together a final album for the great U-Roy. It was revealed with the title, “Solid Gold U-Roy“, and one of the singles that made the album features one of Dancehall’s hottest acts, Rygin King on a cover of the classic single, “Stop That Train“.

Produced by Sharna Liguz, Youth, and Zak Starkey, we see two Artists from two great generations join forces to give us something different. The single covers the 1967 version of the Keith & Tex Rocksteady version of “Stop That Train”. The 1967 version is cover/remake of The Spanishtonians’ 1965 Ska original that speaks of a woman whose boyfriend is leaving her via train, and she wants to join him on board. U-Roy also released a cover version in 2009/10. Both Keith & Tex and U-Roy & Rygin’s versions speak from a man’s perspective however. While many are familiar with Rygin King’s style of music, they’d be surprised to know what he enjoys in his downtime, and seeing this collaboration is just a fraction of what can happen. With the late U-Roy’s signature toasting/deejaying, this an “OG meets the Young General” moment, and we know the posthumous U-Roy album has a lot more gems. This could pave the way for a lot more collaborations like this, and we’re here for it! Call us up so we can be a part of it. For more U-Roy, check out our special U-Roy Playlist here. “Solid Gold U-Roy” is now available for pre-order through Trojan Records, and will be released on July 16, 2021. Continue sleeping in peace, Daddy U-Roy!
