Today’s Oldies Sunday selection comes from Papa San who was once hailed as one of the best deejays in Jamaica. This 1989 song “I Will Survive” which borrowed the chorus from Gloria Gaynor’s classic of the same name, chronicles Papa San’s life from age 1 to age 5. He deejays about being groomed by his mom, watching his father work to provide for the family, being punished, and experiencing new things.

Titled, “Christmas A Come“, this had so much Dancehall feel to it, this was needed at a party with it’s great production. If a woman didn’t pull a man close and a man pulled a woman close to dance, something was really wrong. MMMMMMMaybach Music! Magazeen of the Maybach Music Group wanted in on the holiday season and he got a spot. Titled “Cherry Christmas“, Maga not only wished all a Merry Christmas and a badmind free new year, but he wanted a Black Panamera too. Popping liqour bottles and everyone having a nice time are just a few things he deejays about, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. No Santas and Reindeers allowed though.
