In recognition of yesterday’s “420” celebrations, today I feature a song from Reggae artist Chezidek. Titled “Leave The Trees” and produced by Hugh “Bunny Dan” Miller for Our Promotions in 2006, Chezidek warns us about the effects of drugs and alcohol while proclaiming that Marijuana is beneficial to the people and should not be discarded by the law enforcement as burning it harms the environment. He also sings about the positive effects of Marijuana where it is medicine and can be made into clothing and proceeds from selling it could support families.
“Leave The Trees” became a top ten hit for Chezidek in the UK and a number one hit in Jamaica. It is also one of his more recognizable songs. It was added to his “Inna Di Road” album which was released in September of 2007. Off the success of “Leave The Trees“, Chezidek was given opportunities to perform at events like Rebel Salute, Sting, A Tribute to Peter Tosh, and many others.
After “Leave The Trees” Chezidek managed to release more singles but hasn’t gained the same popularity as his hit. He still performs and is set to release his new album, The Order of Melchezidek very soon.
Thank You Chezidek for this classic tune.
