Having a crack at the instrumental from Kendrick Lamar’s blazing “The Blacker The Berry” today is Khaos! Here he flexes his revolutionary muscle and gets at the oppressors and detractors who have made his people suffer for centuries. He also wants to give them a dose of their own medicine and show his people to think outside of the regular programming. With a mix of Assassin’s contribution, Khaos’ verse, though short, adds an effect to the already powerful single. Jamaican artist Blvk H3ro has a message for everyone today, and he delivers it in the form of a song. Titled “PSA (Call Center)” and produced by Mhaadboxx Productions, H3ro speaks on the injustice that happens in Jamaica and in the work force, and encourages everyone to stand for their rights, and unify to defeat the oppressors. Great production that compliments Blvk H3ro’s delivery. This is a single you leave the “Repeat” option on for in case you missed something. With strong lyrics in his arsenal, Dancehall artist J. Luga speaks out against rapists and child abusers in his latest single. Titled “Bun Raper” and produced by Prolific Records, Luga gets at those who seek pleasure in abusing children and taking advantage of women, and warns that there will be dire consequences if they continue to do these evil acts. With Rape being a topic in the news, J. Luga believes in the anti-rape movement and will bring justice for those who have experienced the hurt and will protect others from being a statistic. Together they drop a little Dancehall and some Jamaican inflections in this bass heavy Hip Hop track. Interesting single from T-Pain but something you can play at ignorant levels. With his Ancient Future album finally being released, Protoje went over the shores and stopped by Hot 97’s “Ebro In The Morning” show. Here he gave a little on his background, his album, the difference between his music and other music in Jamaica, liking Hip Hop and Reggae influencing the genre, the decriminalizing of Marijuana in Jamaica, and more. Pretty short interview but still a good one. Protoje’s riding high off Ancient Future’s success as it has topped a few Reggae and iTunes charts.
