Ghanaian Musician/Recording Artist Baaba J has been blessing the world with her melodies and sounds for a number of years. What first started as dream during her younger years have now turned into a full fledged career, scoring a following globally, and providing her various opportunities. It has been a while since she released her debut project, “Lumumba St.“, and she now steps out with her sophomore effort, the “Okay Baby, Let’s Do This” EP.

Featuring 7 tracks, Baaba J gives the world a reintroduction on “Okay Baby, Let’s Do This”. The project is filled with words of motivation, positivity, and it taps into the Ghanaian culture as you can hear Twi spoken throughout. The Afro-Fusion production on OBLDT was made possible by MERK, 4Play, NiiQuaye, Loudaa, and GuiltyBeatz, and they help to amplify Baaba’s words and melodies throughout. With two EPs in, we can expect her debut album to be one of those monumental moments that will really have the world’s attention. Until then, tap into the sounds of Baaba J. Who knows, maybe we’ll hear her collaborate with one of our Jamaica Artists in the future.

Earlier this year, US Recording Artist/Actress Janelle Monaé announced that she will be releasing her latest album, “The Age Of Pleasure“. Along with that came the single “Lipstick Lover“. While the racy visual showed another side of her, it contained the familiar sound of Dancehall Artist Mad Cobra’s 1992 hit, “Flex“. With the new album just released, a few more familiar sounds joined in.

On Janelle Monaé’s “The Age Of Pleasure” album, Jamaican Recording Artists Derrick Harriott, Barrington Levy, Sister Nancy, and Queen Patra all join Mad Cobra on a few tracks. On the 2nd track “Champagne S***“, Levy’s 1984 hit “Murderer” was sampled. The classic track also appears on the follow up track, “Black Sugar Beach“. “Murderer” was produced by Hyman Wright and Pat Chin, and released through the Grade One label. Sister Nancy’s 1982 hit “Bam Bam” was sampled on the track “Water Slide“. Patra’s “Whining Skill” from her 1993 debut album “Queen Of The Pack” was also sampled on the track. “Bam Bam” secures the title of the most sampled Jamaican song, and we have a Playlist and a few words about it here. Sister Nancy is also a featured Artist, appearing on the track, “French 75“. “Whining” was produced by Tony “CD” Kelly and Clifton “Specialist” Dillon. The legendary Grace Jones also appears on the album as a featured Artist, delivering on “Oooh La La“. Coming to the closing of the album, Derrick Harriott’s 1967 classic, “The Loser” was sampled on the track, “Only Have Eyes 42“. The track was released through Crystal Records, and produced by Harriott. Many have speculated that Monaé would have Jamaican influences on her new album, and what was brought forward did not disappoint.

Heph B Announces New World Tour, Hints At New Album

AfroDancehall Recording Artist Heph B has been enjoying a career that has granted him many high points. Having carved a lane and becoming a global name thanks to his various singles and projects over the years, Heph strongly believes in making music that will stand out, and become timeless. He looks to take the stage in various parts of the world this summer with the “AMARII Album World Tour”.

Announced recently after securing his latest plaque for the iTunes charting of his “AMARII (Deluxe)” album, Heph B is gearing up to take his music to the people in a major way. Starting on June 22 in the Dominican Republic, Heph will perform cuts from the “AMARII” and “AMARII (Deluxe)” albums along with a number of previously released singles, with focus on promoting unity, good vibes, and endless fun along throughout. Joining him on the tour will be Nigerian Artist Bolojay, who has been making waves with his music over the years, along with surprise guests. Aside from the Dominican Republic bookings, the “AMARII Album World Tour” will also make stops throughout the United States, the UK, The Bahamas, and Jamaica, and will take place between June and October. Promoters who wish to book Heph B for more venues during the tour, are encouraged to reach out to his management and bookings team as there will be a few open dates for more shows.

In addition to the new tour, Heph B has also announced that he will be releasing a new album during the 4th quarter of 2023. A new single to start the album’s rollout will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Producer/Recording Artist Rvssian continues to keep the Studio busy, and the streaming platforms occupied with a number of releases this year. With Valiant, Tommy Lee Sparta, and Trippie Redd being a part of some his latest collaborations, he looks to score more hits. This time he gives us, “Grand Theft Auto“.

Rvssian enlisted the “Sauce Boss” Kemar Highcon, and the “Drift Boss” Teejay for “Grand Theft Auto”. With Rvssian’s signature production, the Artists shift between melodic deliveries, a little rapping, but mostly deejaying as they let us in on some of the aspects of their day to day life. The title of the track is nothing more than real life for the “Sauce Boss” as he was charged for the third degree felony weeks ago in Florida. Only time will tell if Kemar will enjoy freedom from this, or make a cell his new home for a while. Teejay on the other hand, has been enjoying life even more thanks to the success of the single, “Drift“. We’re still waiting on his forthcoming album, and maybe he’ll delay it a little more. Dancehall Artist Alkaline continues with his streak of new music releases. With the summer parties just around the corner, he’s making sure that the people have a few of his songs in the mix, with anticipation for more for the rest of the year. He steps out with the new single, “If Dem Eva“.

Alkaline gets things going with production from Autobamb Records and Sponge Music, and he issues a few warnings throughout. Alka has his guns loaded, and locking down the place is a must. Just some “Detta badness” here, and the Deejay delivers it with some melody. Expect a music video for this one. Another track for the fans to collection, and another day closer to Alka releasing a follow up project to “The Ripple Effx“.
