Today, we share something new from Richard Brown Films, a platform that has crafted a number of Films that have been doing well online, highlighting various themes. Today, we check out, “Silent Cry For Help“.

Starring Kemar Williams, Jessica Francis, Andrew Vassell, and Richard Brown who wrote and directed the Film, “Silent Cry For Help” sheds a light on Mental Health, and how one’s health can go on a decline after experiencing betrayal from the people they trust the most. The story focuses on “Abby“, a young Woman who built a life for herself that included a good job, a family to come home to, and a relationship she believed would stand the test of time. Everything seems to be going well, until one decision made a 180 degree change in her life. Her Mental Health goes through it as things come crashing down, but will it be that way for her forever? We hope justice will prevail, but you’d have to tune in to see what happens in the end. A Film that highlights the challenges one can suddenly have in life, and the experience many are still going through today. Keep the Jamaican Film Industry alive, and call on those who have the means to write the cheques, and make further developments.

The 420 vibes aren’t over, there’s still more to come! Last year, Recording Artists Keznamdi, Mavado, and Marlon Asher released the Stoner anthem, “Bun Di Ganja“. While the Major Seven-produced track wasn’t released on 420, lovers of the herb kept it in rotation while enjoying some of the best green. This year, in honour of 420, it gets a remix by Hip Hop legends.

Joining in on the remix to Keznamdi, Mavado, and Marlon Asher’s “Bun Di Ganja”, are New York Hip Hop legends Jadakiss, Sheek Louch, and Styles P a.k.a. The Lox. With extra production by VAS, DHNY, Da Beatminerz, and Dayzel The Machine, the group goes on for a few bars about their love for the herb. From “Gorilla Glue” to “Courvoisier“, it’s all about high grades of herb at the end of the day, and they’re loving it. The Lox has delivered their share of 420-friendly music in their over 30-year career, and many still play member Styles P’s classic solo single “I Get High” while they roll up. The original “Bun Di Ganja” is still making its rounds, and the remix is bound to catch a few ears. Continue taking flight!

Kumar Fyah Kicks Off 420 With “5000 Acres”

Today is 420, also known as the day for Ganja, Marijuana, Herb, or whatever name you have for Mary. While many are enjoying the herb, others are tuning in to the classic Ganja songs, or releasing new ones. Recording Artist Kumar Fyah offers a new tune for you all to hear, and it’s called, “5000 Acres“.

Produced by Stay Nice Music, Kumar Fyah shares empowerment through music with the new single, “5000 Acres”. He recalls an incident when he was detained by Law Enforcement for a small possession of Marijuana, and the experience of it all. To Kumar, the situation was minor as he owns a large portion of the good green as it assists him outside of the usual consumption, and was willing to share some of his harvest if needs be. The experience sheds a light on what’s going on in Jamaica, as many are still incriminated for the possession of Marijuana, and not enough is done in using the plant as a means of economic growth, and community building. While many are elevating to different levels on 420, discussions are still being had about Marijuana being more beneficial for local Farmers, and building a proper Industry for it in the Island. Free up the herbs!

OLDIES SUNDAY: Ernie Smith – One Dream (1971)

On April 16, the world lost another legend. That day, the Iconic Ernie Smith transitioned to a bigger stage. One of Jamaica’s most powerful and recognizable voices, he blessed the world with great music, and people of all ages loved him. Today, we salute the legend on “Oldies Sunday“. We go back in time to check out, “One Dream“.

Produced by Richard Khouri with arrangement by Ken Lazarus for Merritone Production and released through FRM in 1971, Ernie Smith shares his definition of the ideal couple in, “One Dream”. The song finds him wishing for that one Woman whose good qualities come from combining qualities from every Woman in the world, while wishing to possess all the good qualities of every Man in the world so that their union is a perfect one. Talk about having THE dream partner. The upbeat Reggae production paired with Smith’s signature deep baritone vocals and solid songwriting instantly made “One Dream” a hit. The song went to #1 in Jamaica, and found a fanbase soon outside of the Caribbean. The song would be later featured on Smith’s “Greatest Hits” album in 1972, and would be covered by Tommy McCook, and Count Prince Miller.

Since the release of “One Dream”, Ernie Smith continued to have a very successful career which started in the 1960s, releasing even more music over the years. His voice was instantly recognizable, and was a part of many campaigns in Jamaica for Tourism, Health, a number of businesses, and even Theatre. He even voiced his displeasure of the Jamaican Government through song, which caused controversy. Smith passed away on April 16 during a Hospital admission, but his legacy lives on. “One Dream” remains one of his biggest hits.

THANK YOU ERNIE SMITH FOR THIS CLASSIC! SLEEP WELL.

Witty Continues The Rock Dancehall Agenda With “Friday Night”

The Rock Dancehall agenda continues to grow legs, and Witty is adding to it today. Having gone viral with his own Rock-tinged Dancehall releases, we believe he should keep it up in this lane, and add to the diversity of Jamaican music. He continues to rock on with, “Friday Night“.

In a video directed by Bussweh Visuals (Xhan Shot It with the graphics), Witty brings the energy in, “Friday Night”. Borrowing Pop Star Katy Perry’sLast Friday Night“, the Deejay drops lyrics about having wild times with the ladies, partying it up, and of course all the ingredients that make up the fast life. The video features appearances by Social Media Personality Big Trap, Recording Artist Alanys OG, Jamaican Rock Musician Brother Martell, and Prince Pine (if you know the original Prince Pine & Fatskull videos, you know this appearance is a great one). For those who jeered when Witty was trying to find his footing, make sure you give him that support now, because he’s on his way to a major breakout, and with co-signs from some of the best in the business, it’s no longer farfetched.
