Life is good for Dancehall Icon Elephant Man. He’s celebrating 30 years in music by being as active as ever. He recently made noise in the US with a number of stage appearances, and yesterday it was announced that he was recruited by Lil Wayne for his upcoming “Tha Carter VI” album. While he continues to make moves as a Dancehall legend, he’s getting you ready for the Summer with the new single, “New Wave“.

Produced by DJ Karim/Stainless Music and featuring Gabbidon, Elephant Man is getting everyone in the dancing mood again with “New Wave”. Over some energetic production, Ele calls everyone to get on the dance floor, and give their all on it. It’s a good Friday, so it’s only right to rock out to some good tunes. Zaila-Jazz Gets Caught Up In Love On “Dangerous” Single

Recently, Crawba Genius of Crawba Productions released the compilation project called, “Reggae Alive“. The release features a lineup of upcoming and emerging acts, channeling great sounds, and delivering great music. One of the upcoming acts aims to be a breakout star, and become a dominant force in the future. Her name is Zaila-Jazz, and she shares her single called, “Dangerous“.

The Crawba Productions-helmed “Dangerous” single by Zaila-Jazz finds her getting caught up in love. She admits that this situation has gotten her out of character, as she finds herself spending hours on the phone with her love interest, thinking abut him more often, and realizing how this love has taken over her life, seeing how effective it is. Some see this kind of love as dangerous, but she welcomes it. Zaila is a new Artist on the scene with a couple releases to her name, and she comes from a musically-diverse family. We look forward to her carving a solid lane in music, and creating a legacy like those before her. Get familiar.

Some days can be tough to deal with, especially Mondays. For some, they get by with just focusing on work or school, others find something to keep them distracted. For all the other days, Dancehall Artist Rajahwild keeps something close by to get him on the clouds. He floats on the new single, “Bonsai Tree“.

Produced by Pantason/Shaqadon Productions on the “Weed & Grabba Riddim“, Rajahwild rolls up something good on “Bonsai Tree”. Rajah delivers something for the smokers and stoners, and it will definitely put them all on cloud 9, staying afloat over the stress or frustration they may go through. The herb that Rajah enjoys keeps him higher than ever, and even finds him speaking in Japanese. In the end, he is as calm as one can be who tends to a Bonsai Tree. Rajahwild has been busy releasing new music these past few weeks, and has been performing in various parts of the Caribbean and the US, and is gearing up to join Alkaline at the UK staging of “New Rules“, and in Jamaica with Aidonia at his 20th anniversary concert. OLDIES SUNDAY: Innocent Kru – Impossible Train (1998)

It’s another “Oldies Sunday” moment! We appreciate everyone who has been tuning in for our various selections. Today’s entry takes us back to the late 90s/early 2000s. We check out “Impossible Train” by Innocent Kru.

Produced by Sly & Robbie for Taxi Records and released in 1998, it was a display of lyrics and styles on “Impossible Train” by Innocent Kru. Comprised of cousins Benzly Hype, Dapsy Daps, Copper Kid, and Macka Head, this was the crew’s official debut single, and they kicked off things in a big way. The production sampled the theme music from the hit TV/Film franchise “Mission: Impossible“, and was given the real Dancehall treatment as each member delivered verses that had listeners rewinding. The creation of the track came by accident as it was originally a freestyle on the Riddim. Under the direction of Sly & Robbie, it was suggested to be recorded, and made an official track. “Impossible Train” was an instant hit for Innocent Kru, and crossed over to the International market shortly after its release. The track was featured on the group’s 2001 debut album, “Innocent“, and was a mainstay on many mixes.

Since the release of “Impossible Train”, the Innocent Kru went on to release more music. Members of the group would later venture into solo efforts, but their future successes together and apart never surpassed what “Impossible Train” gave them. Benzly Hype went on to release music, dabbled into TV/Film and released a series called “Me & Mi Kru” that quickly became a hit and featured guest appearances by members of the group, and worked with a number of Artists over the years as a Producer. Dapsy Daps a.k.a. “Clumsy Daps” released music over the years, but passed away in the 2010s. “Impossible Train” remains the group’s biggest hit.

Dancehall Artist Pablo YG is in it to win it. Since his breakout in the early part of the 2020s, he has been climbing up the ladder of success, securing more hits, and building more fanbases around the world. The Deejay recently performed in Europe, and we know that at one point, he didn’t think that would’ve been possible. But he keeps working to gain more. He shares his aspirations in the single, “Obtain“.

Produced by Simple Boss Records, Pablo YG celebrates that life has been good to him in “Obtain”. Remembering the days when he had struggles, he’s grateful for the times he can now command good money to perform his songs, and connect with people who he’d never think would’ve been familiar with him. No more days of frustration, just days where he can get into gear for success. It may be a little overdue for a new project from Pablo YG, but let’s see how the rest of the year turns out. He was one of Dancehall’s Rookies of the year, and now he’s a star player in the Dancehall league. Getting rich and richer.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Kukudoo – King David (2009)

It’s a new month, and that means new content on “Oldies Sunday“! Today’s selection will shake up a few rooms, halls, and streets. We look back at Gospel Artist Kukudoo’s track, “King David“.

Produced by World Shock Media and officially released in 2009, Kukudoo made everyone rock to his “King David” tune, even the dead. Originally a song performed at Nine Nights/Wakes, the song was a mix of Revival Gospel Music, Bible stories, dancing, and Jamaican culture, and shared a few memorable lines like, “King David sit up on the heavenly throne, hallelujah…“, and “See people business and leave it alone, hallelujah…“. The backing production was regularly performed at Nine Night/Wake events, and it was only right to use for the official recording of “King David”. The song quickly gained popularity locally, and secured its place in being a highly requested song to play everywhere to this day. If a song could earn Platinum and Diamond certifications just be playing it in the streets, “King David” would own many plaques. “King David” was also performed at the “Jamaica 56” Grand Gala in 2018. It gained an big endorsement from Media Personality/Lawyer/Anthropologist Dr. Kingsley “Ragashanti” Stewart as he would play it during episodes of his “Tambourine Radio” and “Ragashanti Live” shows in the 2000s, and related shows in the future. He was also recruited to appear in the “King David” music video, which was directed by Tinman (of SwagTVFilmz) for Creative Vibes Production. The song would go on to gain notoriety on Social Media platforms Instagram and TikTok, giving it even more life through trending content.

Since the release of “King David”, Kukudoo went on to release more music and albums, and became one of the most booked Jamaican Gospel Artists. He is still active today, taking his music to various parts of the world. “King David” remains a classic.
