Trini Creative Sarkastik Ambassador looks to make 2021 the year he increases his musical output. Having dabbled in other areas last year, we didn’t get to hear much music. Starting off the new year right, he gives listeners an early listen to the track, “Toxic“.
Produced by TDSK Productions and featuring Bajan Singer/Songwriter Rhea Layne, Sark and Rhea get at each other like a fighting couple as they speak about jealousy, insecurity, and plenty toxic behaviours between them. Many couples go through things like this daily, but Sark and Rhea just play it all out in a way that will have couples thinking over things and go forward with resolutions. As mentioned before, this an early listen as Sarkastik Ambassador looks to put some finishing touches and officially release this track later this year. Let us know what you think about it.

In recognition of the Christmas season, we’re highlighting a few Christmas songs for the month of December on Oldies Sunday! Last week we visited Haiti, this week we stopped by Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago to check out the legendary Singing Francine’s “Hurray Hurrah“!
Arranged by Pelham Goddard and released through M&H Productions in 1979, Singing Francine shares the story of the birth of Jesus Christ, and highlights his importance to all of us. Over beautiful production, Singing Francine gives us a lively song that will make everyone join in clapping and singing. The track was featured on her 1979 “From Christmas…To Carnival Vol. 1” album, and her 1981 “Christmas Is Love” album. One of the Queens of Calypso with the great Calypso Rose, Singing Francine has brought joy and a lot of entertainment to anyone within earshot of her voice for many decades. “Hurray Hurrah” is one of her many Christmas releases, and is still played in various parts of the Caribbean.

From the Island of Barbados that has boasted great talent like Alison Hinds, DJ Puffy, Rupee, Jus D, and Rihanna, Recording Artist/Producer Shaí Bascombe looks to take his place among legends. Having been involved in music from a young age, he started taking it seriously just over 3 years ago. With a few singles and 2 projects to his name, he looks to elevate his career with the release of his 3rd project, “Naomi“.
Consisting of 11 tracks, Shaí Bascombe doesn’t hold back with the creativity. Producing the lion’s share of the album with contributions from Kenty J and Hasnai Eli, Shaí takes Trap, Hip Hop, Pop, and R&B influences to create something that’s unique, and has listeners taking a trip through his experiences, dreams, and creativity. Recording Artists Jah Koda and Ch’an make an appearance on the album, and did well with their respective features. For those thinking the Caribbean music scene is limited, artists like Shaí Bascombe is a rising movement that has been changing the way you hear the music.

It’s another Summer, and it’s time for the Pool Parties, new fashion, new destinations, and for those in School, freedom from the books for a while. For others, it’s a time to discover new music, and we’ll gladly help you in discovering new Artists. We advise you to get proper headphones, great speakers, money for tickets and audio purchases, and the mindset to fully enjoy the music. Here are 15 Artists to watch out for this Summer!
With a few years in the game, Florida based Recording Artist Khxos (formerly Khaos) has been releasing Dancehall tunes and gaining attention thanks to Social Media. He received a buzz that started to bubble in Summer 2015 thanks to the release of “One Touch”. Summer 2016 kept the ball rolling with his debut EP “Deception”, but collaborations with Andrew Trabass, Chargii, and Lincoln 3Dot helped to keep it blazing for the rest of the year. Early 2017 however saw his name change, and the release of “So Loud” and “BOMM” propelled him as one to watch this Summer as he prepares to release his debut Album, “Dopamine”.
They don’t call him “El Fuego” for nothing, his music keeps you on your toes, and his lyrics hit like the hot oil from frying Plantains. This Artist has been quietly making his way onto the scene and has made appearances from “New Wave” to “Live From Kingston: Class 2016”, to “Imprint” to Protoje’s “For The Culture” event. His collaborations with the likes of Lila Ike, Runkus, and Leno Banton have received numerous hits on Soundcloud, and he hits the road (or Air) with Runkus as a part of the “Class Is In” European Tour and a stop at the German Summerjam this Summer!
This Songstress came as a surprise this year with the release of her debut single, “So Shy”. Known as “The First Lady Of REM”, she followed up with a freestyle (Believe In You), and a follow up single titled “The Cycle”. She has also made appearances on “Smile Jamaica”, “New Wave”, “Speak”, and “7 am In Kingston”. Yanah is currently working follow up singles, and makes an appearance near you this Summer!
