Today’s Oldies Sunday selection is a lil late, but we’re here. Today’s selection is dedicated to those who have dreams, ambitions, and a desire to win despite the odds they’re facing. We listen to Dancehall Artist Laden’s “Time To Shine“.

Produced by Stephen “Di Genius” McGregor and released through the Big Ship label in 2009, Laden provides a song that aims to uplift, and encourage. An Artist who is filled with potential and promise, he asks the question, “When is it going to be my time to shine?“. In a time when everyone is trying to make it, Laden was just looking for his big break. Formerly known as “Jim Laden“, the Deejay was a contestant in the 2006 season of the Digicel Rising Stars competition series. He gained popularity after placing at 8th place, but his career wasn’t gaining the right success at the time. “Time To Shine” came at a great time for him, and instantly became a hit. Paired with the popularity of “Di Genius” and his productions, “Time To Shine” took Laden to various parts of the world, and the song even had some commercial appeal as it appeared in a few campaigns.

Since the release of “Time To Shine”, Laden went on to enjoy moderate success, securing a number of hits over the years. He had some trouble with the law, but nowadays he’s more focused on making good music, and lending his expertise to the new generation of Artists. No matter where life takes him, “Time To Shine” remains his biggest, and most memorable single.

There’s a new Artist in town, and he is furious! Jamaican Comedian Kyng Tavii recently took the pleasure of introducing an Artist who will be creating a scene, and he goes by the name of “Clozpin“. Clozpin first made an appearance in the “Shhaat Him” video, but he’s here to take what is rightfully his. With the beat ready, he begins his tirade in the video for the track, “Call Name“.

Under the direction of Kyng Tavii and joined by Comedian Cuz and “VogueBoss” a.k.a. “Dangles“, Clozpin is heated, and is calling out the Artists who owe him. He shares that he has contributed to the development and success of some of your favourite Artists, and he is hellbent on destroying their careers, and taking his just due. He shares his scathing messages over the Instrumental for the 1996 Hip Hop classic “Hit ‘Em Up” by the late Tupac Shakur, which was a diss track aimed at the late Biggie Smalls. Clozpin also borrowed the track’s flow to send his points across. With high profile names called, we look forward to what will happen next as Clozpin means business.

Dancehall Artist Masicka is getting ready to create a storm. The Def Jam-signee has fans anticipating the follow up to his debut album “438“, and with support from the historic label, we can expect a serious rollout if done right. New content from Masicka is always good, and earlier he shared the visual for the new single, “Limelight“.

Directed by Ruppi for Now Or Never, Masicka finds himself in the hills away from the rest of the population. Taking the time to relax, reflect on good times, and realign his focus, we also get a few highlights of him taking the stage, and connecting with the people. The deejay gets busy in the hills until he gets a message from his people, and we see him suiting up like an Assassin who’s called up for a contract kill. Ready for the new SZN of the Genahsyde Boss? Dancehall Artist Voiide is back on the scene with new content. The Artist has been busy creating and making connections, and he’s more focused than ever. He recently stepped out with the video for his latest single, “Inevitable“.

The TrxpD3m/Different Mind State-produced “Inevitable” finds Voiide locked and loaded, and ready for any opposition that wishes to step in his way. He’s feeling trigger happy, and he’ll hit his enemies up with more than just an aggressive flow and charged lyrics. The track is accompanied by a music video directed by Aviidan Media, and Voiide is in an unknown location with his crew issuing out some punishment to one of their opposers who they have held hostage. Lookout for Voiide and his Different Mind State team as we can expect a lot more music in the coming weeks.

Rowdy Rebel Links Up With Chronic Law For “Words Of Law (Remix)”

It’s no secret that Chronic Law’s music has made an impact worldwide. For a number of years, his brand of “Darkness” has touched many for better or worse, and his catalogue is filled with anthems. Earlier this year he released the track, “Words Of Law“, it definitely made an impact on US Rapper Rowdy Rebel, and made the link for the “Words Of Law (Remix)“.

Produced by MBlocc Records, Chronic Law and Rowdy Rebel trade verses on “Words Of Law (Remix)”. They share their own type of badness throughout, with perspectives from Jamaica and New York respectively. The two make for a great collaboration, and it would be a good move for them to collaborate on more tracks. Chronic Law continues to feed the streets with new music and visuals weekly, and we expect “Words Of Law (Remix)” to cover more ground. Fada Dark meets the GS9 Rebel.

450 Crosses Paths With A Former Flame On “Wild N Rich”

Dancehall Artist 450 is gearing up for a busy season as he will be taking on a number of local and International live performances. He continues to be consistent with the music, and his numbers have been growing exponentially. There’s always room for new 450 music, and you can now tune in to the video for the new single, “Wild N Rich“.

Directed by Damaniac Visualz, 450 crosses paths with a ex who became a new member of his Neighbourhood, and he’s not happy about that. Over production by Week.Day, “Wild N Rich” finds the Artist reflecting on his past relationship as he was wronged, but he shares that despite having some anger towards his ex, he’s living and doing better. The video however, shows two different sides of 450 where on one side he confronts his ex in an attempt to create some sparks while her partner is away, the other side shows him does the opposite and finds comfort in his new lady. 450 hasn’t missed with the tracks, and we know the fans will give this one the support.
