Fresh off the heels of Gaza Slim releasing a Gospel song, TJ Records has released one from none other than Vybz Kartel. Titled “Servant“, we hear Kartel with the help from singers speak about wanting to more than an ordinary servant, giving thanks for all that has happened so far, being David while poverty is Goliath, quoting scriptures, and showing love for Jah. Interesting single from Mr. Palmer and the chrous was borrowed from the Regina Wingate single. Get ready for a ton more unreleased songs but will there be more Gospel tinged ones? After a few delays, Tommy Lee Sparta finally dropped the visual to his sexually charged song, “Whine Up“. Directed by Wayne South, the Sparta Boss drops lyrics about ladies being freaky for him, and having his way with them while see are treated to half naked strippers, blue light, glow in the dark paint and lots of colours. If you’re on the job tonight, make the browser window smaller and if you’re home, keep it away from the kids. A very sexual video with many innuendos like the photo below. Stepping in another direction today is singer Vawnessa Bling a.k.a. Gaza Slim. Titled “Mercy On Me Lord” and produced by her own VB Records, Vawnessa steps into the Gospel route with this song. She asks the Lord to keep her safe from all transgressions, having faith even when she feels like giving up, going through things and asking for guidance. This is not a bad effort from her as I’ve been following her career for a while and I believe she could flex her creative muscle. I’m actually looking forward to what else Vawnessa has in store. A few weeks ago, Vybz Kartel was not only found guilty of his crimes, but was also handed a life sentence. While many celebrated or felt disappointed, TVJ’s Anthony Miller released a documentary on the Dancehall Artist up to his sentencing. Titled “Dancehall Dark Star“, we see clips that chronicle Kartel’s journey from a new act working with Bounty Killa, his own fame, feuds and his arrest. Another day, another new Vybz Kartel song is placed on the internet. He along with new So Unique Records artist Keshan, are dealing with relationship woes in “Don’t Lie“. Produced by So Unique Records, we hear Keshan professing her love and loyalty while Vybz is not hearing it and telling her that she can go if she’s no longer feeling the union. Reggae is for the people worldwide and today’s video is no exception. Lucas DiPasquale is a singer who covers popular songs on his Youtube channel and in his latest video he covers Dancehall’s own Popcaan. With the help of a microphone and guitar, Lucas gives us acoustic versions of Popcaan’s hits. Very great effort here as he caught the lyrics that were done in Patois (Jamaican creole) very well.
