Today, Rapper/DJ Stichie Don and legendary Rapper Rampage who share Caribbean backgrounds, speak on where they’re from on “Unsolved Mysteries“. Produced by DubLab Productions, the duo share their experiences over some hard hitting beat that’ll have you thinking you’re on the corner in the 90’s. From hustling days to seeing crime and corruption, they share stories that many others have seen in the places they call home. We Take A “Quick Throwback” Look At @Protoje’s “The Feeling”!
Happy Throwback Thursday (and Happy World Cup day)! Today we bring to you another in our “Quick Throwback” series. This time around we go back to the year 2005 with the birthday boy Protoje and check out, “The Feeling“! Off his “Lyrical Overdose” mixtape, “Diggy British” hops on a Hip Hop instrumental done by Producer 9th Wonder (off his Black Album Rejects beat tape) to paint the picture of him being a Ganja Smuggler. From enjoying the finest herb, to trafficking it, to getting a rush from dodging the law, Protoje is the one for all your smoking needs.
Since his mixtape, Protoje has worked his way up to releasing his first single “Arguments“, and became one of the prominent figures in the new wave of Reggae artists in recent years. He is set to drop his 4th album at the end of this month. For all the weed smokers and exporters. Marcus Garvey Gets Sampled On @KanyeWest @KidCudi’s “KIDS SEE GHOSTS”!
As promised, Kanye West kicked off a weekly roll out of albums released under the G.O.O.D Music label. This week, he released the long awaited collaborative album, “KIDS SEE GHOSTS” featuring Recording Artist Kid Cudi. While the album featured 7 tracks, there was one that caught many off guard. On track 4 titled “Freeee” a.k.a. “Ghost Town Pt. 2“, it starts off with the words of the late Jamaican Scholar, Activist, Teacher, and National Hero, The Rt. Excellent Marcus Mosiah Garvey. Produced by Kanye, vocals from a speech and Interview Garvey was a part of in the early 1920’s about his trial and persecution for Mail Fraud was used in the first few seconds of the track.
Marcus Garvey’s influence and his teachings continue to reach many all over the world. If you wish to know more about this great man, check this out. How are you all doing today? Feeling good? How about some new music? Today we deliver to you some “Irie” vibes all the way from New Orleans courtesy of Reggae/Hip Hop Artists Ayotemi and Sam Wyse of the IRIE Collective!
