He announced it a few weeks ago, but today is the day Protoje hits the virtual streets with the release of his 5th album, “In Search Of Lost Time“. A follow up to his 2018 Grammy nominated “A Matter Of Time” album, he looks to further expand his movement, and still bring a few new changes to the game. His first release since his partnership with RCA Records and Six Course Music, Protoje shows us that despite a few new changes, his formula is still timeless. With a lineup that includes Popcaan, Koffee, Lila Ike, and Wiz Khalifa, expect nothing but great offerings throughout. Backed by production from iotosh, Winta James, Supa Dups, Di Genius, Ziah, Natural High Music, and The Grei Show, you’ll be swayed by the Riddims as well. Will this be the album that not only gets the Grammy nom, but take home that golden award? Let’s see what happens in 2021 as iotosh and The Grei Show are two producers we’d love to see be a part of a “Grammy Family“.
Recording Artist Leno Banton looks to close off his 2019 in “light-speed” style, but first he had to swing the sword a few times. Who are the recipients of the attack? The ones he refers to as “Pirates” in his latest single! Produced by iotosh and Runkus, Leno Banton calls out the “Leaders” and Politicians who claim they are for the country’s people, but are just leeching away all the Nation’s resources and leaving people to suffer. The song is just one of many that call out the people in power and warn them to do away with their corruptive actions, or there will be consequences.
The youth will continue to be the voice of change in Jamaica, and very soon the walls that the elders have built will be torn down to make way for a better country. We have all suffered for too long under the tutelage of Pirates, and they need to make their exits like those who have walked the plank. Leno Banton promises more music in 2020, with a possible release of the follow up to his “REM SZN” project!
Nothing like a classic record isn’t it? Sometimes they don’t translate well with the new generation, and at times have to be tweaked a lil to get them to appreciate it. While this isn’t the case with today’s post, Jamaican Producer J.L.L. reimagines some of his favourite Bob Marley tunes with his latest remix project, “Vibes With Bob“. A Producer who we’ve included in our “Producers To Watch” feature and has made a name for himself through working with the likes of Chronixx, Smino, Royal Blu, Masego, Kranium, The Therapist, and Jane Macgizmo, this is a project to slowly enjoy like the sunset at your favourite location. With assistance from iotosh and Martel Howard, “Vibes With Bob” was 4 years in the making, and should have you ready to hear more. Check out the project below, and share with a friend! Blvk H3ro has been toiling hard over these past few years to get here. With numerous singles, projects, and stage performances, he finally releases his debut album, “The Immortal Steppa“. Released through DubShot Records/BHM, we get 14 tracks that aims to capture the world’s attention. With production from Dennis “Greatest” Hamilton, The Grei Show, Kris Karz, Palace Pikney, SNR, JLL, BoomDraw, Kone, Wavy Jones, Bastido, Alexandre Hostein, and Guerilla Music Productions, Blvk gets assistance for his lyrics that’ll have you thinking, moving, and enjoying yourself. With influences from Stevie Wonder (whose “Superstition” track he covers), Michael Jackson (he sampled on “M.A.R.Y.“), Marijuana, and Rastafari, Blvk called in IOTOSH, Leno Banton, and Royal Blu to join in on the exhibition of great music. For those thinking that the project would completely have all new music, the favourites “H3rb“, “M.A.R.Y.“, and “SkyDive” off “The H3rb Connoisseur” were added. Congratulations to Blvk H3ro on reaching this far in his career. Artwork by Richard Nattoo, check out the project below, and share with a friend. It’s been a while since we’ve featured something from Rude Jerms. He has been on the grind since we featured “Why Me” and “Pop Champagne“, and he’s ready for a takeover. Recently he teamed up with frequent collaborator ShotByDeth for the “Blessings” visual. While his subject matters speaks on the blessings he receives and the moves he’s making along the way, the video finds him chilling with the team and popping up at a couple events. Shout out IOTOSH for the production. While the Hip Hop scene is nothing new to Jamaica, the “Trap Music” era continues to influence many to bring their own sound to the world. Watch out for “Bare moves” as Rude Jerms is connected with the ZimiEnt crew. Check out the video below, and show us some love on Instagram at @13thStreetPromo.
