Yaksta & Silk Boss Call Out The Government In “For Sale”

Sale out, sale out! They say there’s an Island for sale and lease to the highest bidders. The topic of Jamaica no longer being for the natives and more for Investors all over the world is brought up often. We are losing our resources, we are losing our identity, we are losing our home! Recording Artist Yaksta has been noticing things when it comes to our Country, and he’s not pleased. He takes the podium in, “For Sale“.

Produced by Abroad Records/Marlon Easy/Bush Music and featuring Silk Boss, Yaksta calls out the Government in, “For Sale”. Every day we see something going on in Jamaica where foreigners and Investors are capturing our land and resources, driving many of us out of homes, and places of importance. We’re also feeling the effects of higher costs of living, and restrictions on things that would make life here easier. These actions are not our doing, but are being orchestrated by those in power. Yaksta and Silk share their disapproval on the track, and take it to the screen in a Lagikz Supreme-directed music video. “For Sale” is featured on “The Microphone Saved Me“, and fans have been requesting for this one to get the music video treatment. “For Sale, For Sale” they say. What’s next?

Clymaxx Stays Focused On “Different Day”

Every day is an opportunity to make something happen. While the name Clymaxx has not been on the mainstream like her Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall days, the former Queen has been developing her skills, and ensuring that she takes care of what’s important. Known as one of the more lyrical Deejays, her co-signs from some of Dancehall’s best over the years along with her releases are proof. No matter what’s going on, even on a “Different Day“, she’s focused.

Produced by KwanKussion, Clymaxx gets serious in, “Different Day”. It’s all about getting to the money, living your best life, taking care of your circle, and not letting anything get in the way of that. Clymaxx has no time for drama nor gossip, and she stays in her lane. Anyone tries to mess up her plans, will know her version of hell. The accompanying music video may no feature music, but she emphasizes her points, and her team is within reach if things go left. Clymaxx looks to keep the musical output consistent, not only because of her skillset, but because she’s trying to make even more things happen. Keep an eye out as she continues her mission.

Kickraux & Witty “LIVE LIFE LARGE” With 2-Track EP

There was a point in time on Social Media, the phrase “Jah know, Witty” would be commonplace in comment sections. The phrase would put down Recording Artist Witty, but he used it as fuel to be great. While his music career had a shaky start, he found his footing when he released Rock-inspired Dancehall music. The attention from those releases grew so much that top Producer Kickraux showed interest in his sound, and their connection resulted in a number of collaborations. Over the weekend, they dropped a new addition called, “LIVE LIFE LARGE“.

With a 2 track EP, Kickraux and Witty look to dominate the music spaces with “LIVE LIFE LARGE” setting the tone. If you’ve heard their previous collabs, you’re in for even more Rock Dancehall tunes, further expanding Witty’s catalogue. Kickraux ensures the lyrics get the right sound, and fans are going to demand even more music. With just an appetizer here, we look forward to their next development. We can see Witty taking on the International stages soon with the music. Get familiar with this one.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Black Slate – Freedom Time (1980)

August 1 is recognized as “Emancipation Day“. On that day in 1834, the Slavery Abolition Act of 1833 came into force, and various parts of the Caribbean celebrate on that day. On “Oldies Sunday“, we revel in the celebrations through music. For today’s entry, we go back in time to check out British Band Black Slate’sFreedom Time“.

Released through Ensign/Mercury Records in 1980, the self-produced “Freedom Time” found Black Slate called for the liberation of the people. The song found the Band in celebration mode, anticipating for the arrival of the Marcus Garvey-founded Black Star Line (also popularly known as the Black Star Liner), that will take us all home. The easy-going production helped to amplify the lyrics and melodies throughout, encouraging listeners join in on a special moment. “Freedom Time” was featured on the Band’s sophomore album “Amigo“, and despite not being released as a single, it found its following over the years. The song would add to the album’s success

Since the release of “Freedom Time”, Black Slate continued to release more music, and score a few hits over the years. The Band is still active, and many continue to play their music, including “Freedom Time”.

THANK YOU BLACK SLATE FOR THIS HIT!
