With Women’s History Month 2022 coming to a close on Oldies Sunday, we thought why not go out with a bang for the ladies! Today, we go not too far back in time, but we highlight a hit from two wonderful Women in Jamaican Music. Today’s selection comes from Danielle D.I. and Cherine Anderson with the single, “Rebel“.
Produced by Sly & Robbie, Danielle D.I. and Cherine Anderson’s “Rebel” was released in 2013. The track features the Women expressing themselves to the fullest as the Rebel’s they are. Whether they’re good girls, ladies, bad gyals, Independent, confident, sexy, passionate, and ambitious, they are Jamaican Women, and you will respect them. “Rebel” was a big hit for Danielle D.I. and Cherine Anderson as it became an anthem at the time, and it was featured on Danielle’s “Sly & Robbie Present: Danielle D.I. – The Rebel” album, and on the VP Records “Strictly The Best Vol. 47” compilation. “Rebel” connected with Women of all ages, and it remains as one of Danielle D.I.’s biggest singles.
thank you Danielle D.i. & Cherine Anderson!

Digging through his archives and dropping a track today is Producer/Rapper Kris Karz. Titled “Rebel Music“, this features Singers Ana and Trust and Reggae artist Biggz General. This unmixed version also features a sample from the late Dennis Brown. Here they speak on being a rebel against the system, having their own thoughts and standing out in everything. They also pay respect to famous rebels who fought for the rights of people. A good effort here, given the right push this could be a hit for them all. What do you think? After being taken under the wing of Sly & Robbie recently, D.I. has been working hard at making some hits that will really rock the airwaves. Tonight on Onstage she spoke about her career so far, her collaborative album with Sly & Robbie called “D.I. The Rebel“, her single “Rebel” being a huge hit, her new single “My Man“, changes in her preparation and delivery of her music, her recent tour with Gyptian, gaining new fans and future plans. Nice interview, haven’t heard her album yet but will do so soon. What do you think? Check out the video below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
