Natalie Bergman’s Cover Of The Slickers’ “Johnny Too Bad” Featured In @RoadHouseMovie

Jamaican Music and Pop Culture will always go hand in hand. From TV Shows, to Film, to a way of life, Jamaica’s influence is strong. Recently, the Amazon Prime Video platform released “Road House“. A remake of the the 1989 cult classic that starred the late Patrick Swayze, the 2024 Film stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Conor McGregor, and it finds the character Dalton (Gyllenhaal), an ex-UFC Fighter, who gets a job as a Bouncer in a Florida Keys Road House, and the trouble that finds him there. The Film features a soundtrack that is filled with a number of Bands who play Rock and Pop, but a familiar song, covered by Singer Natalie Bergman of Wild Belle, could be heard in a scene.

During an early part of “Road House”, Natalie Bergman and Wild Belle covered Jamaican Rocksteady/Reggae group The Slickers’ “Johnny Too Bad“. Produced by Byron Lee and released through the Panther Label in 1970, “Johnny Too Bad” was about a Gunman who was known to committing various crimes. The song highlights his crimes, but was given a warning that when it’s his time for his activities and life to end, there will be no escaping them. The single quickly gained popularity after its release, and was included in the soundtrack for the 1972 Jamaican classic Film, “The Harder They Come“, which starred Jimmy Cliff. The song was covered a number of times before Bergman’s, and included versions by UB40, Sublime, Dennis Brown, and Bunny Wailer. “Road House” is out now on Amazon Prime Video.

Produced by XTM.Nation, Lila Ike teams up with the legendary iNi Kamoze for “I Want You”.  This collaboration finds two greats delivering a love song that will become anthems for many, and it highlights the old and new school styles coming together. iNi has been an inspiration for many Artists, and his timeless music will always be a part of the conversations. Lila has proven herself to be an International superstar, and this new track will be considered one of her biggest hits. Accompanying the single, is a Music Video directed by Birhan Tonge and Filmaica, and was shot in Irish Town, St. Andrew, and in California. The video finds both Artists performing the track, but iNi can be seen in a Studio, while Lila takes it to the party. Love is a beautiful thing.

Chronic Law & @BugleAn9ted Team Up On “Real Storm”

Chronic Law is still one of the hardest working Dancehall Artists when it comes to the output. While he keeps the streets busy with new music, he likes to step out with unlikely collaborations. Last month he collaborated with UK Rapper M24, and now he teams up with one of Reggae’s most prolific voices in, “Real Storm“.

Produced by Hungry Lion Records on the “Psalms Of David Riddim“, “Real Storm” finds Chronic Law teaming up with Reggae Artist Bugle. Together they make observations on the ways of man and the corruption that has gripped the world, and they hold the order while being cautious in their day to day lives. The accompanying Music Video was directed by Shane Creative, and it finds the “Law Boss” and the “An9ted” Artist showcasing a great collaboration. Both Artists have delivered powerful music, and them joining forces should make way for even more collaborations. Be wary on your journey, stand strong against the storms that will come.

Janeel Mills Covers An Amy Winehouse Classic In “Johnny”

Jamaican Songbird Janeel Mills has been blessing the world with her voice, and gracing stages for a number of years. She has worked with some of your favourite Artists, and special moments are made instantly when she sings her first note. Recently, she tapped into one of her musical inspirations for a track called, “Johnny“.

Produced by Makiri Whyte, Janeel Mills channels the late Amy Winehouse in “Johnny”. Covering the 2007 hit single “Valerie“, Mills gives us a different perspective with her cover as she speaks of a Man she loves. “Valerie” was originally recorded by English Indie Rock Band The Zutons in 2006, but was covered the same year by Winehouse, and released in 2007 as a collaboration with Producer Mark Ronson. The song went on to go 3x Platinum. Mills not only does the cover justice, but give it a Reggae feel from its original Pop/Jazz sound. Accompanying the track is a Music Video directed by Ifidel Williams, and it finds Janeel reminiscing on the good times with her lover, in between solo performances of the track. Over 20 years ago, we got a song called “Earth A Run Red” that shed a spotlight on all that’s going on in the world. The man behind the powerful song was Richie Spice. A lot has happened since that song’s release in 1998, and sadly the world hasn’t gotten better. Nonetheless, Spice is still fighting the good fight in this “Crazy World“.

Produced by Spot On Records/Element Music Group, Richie Spice steps to the podium on “Crazy World”. He shares his observations and his desire to help the people, and he seeks the power of Rasta to free the people. Richie Spice never shies from providing powerful music, and he calls on others to do their part. Accompanying the single is a Music Video that finds the Reggae Artist spreading his message through news broadcasts, and press conferences. The world needs to wake up, and Spice is doing his part to make it happen.

For a number of years, Producer/Recording Artist Iotosh has been putting in the work to make his name prominent in Jamaica, and various parts of the world. His career steered him into the direction of working with high-profile Artists, securing GRAMMY nominations, and generating great streaming numbers. His mission is not complete, and he has plenty more to do. Today, he shares his latest single, “Bad News“.

Iotosh handles the production on “Bad News” with release through his Sound Ting label, and he goes through the emotions while dealing with a loss. Over classic Reggae sounds, he expresses what many can relate to when it comes to dealing with the loss of a loved one. Losing someone you were close to is never easy, and we can remember the initial reaction, and where we were when we first heard the news. Iotosh continues to work on music that will tap into every vibe and situation, and we can keep our fingers crossed to see if he’ll finally release a project later this year. Here today, gone tomorrow. R.I.P. to those we have lost.
