Jeremy Harding’s “Playground Riddim” Gets Sampled On @Mahalia & @BurnaBoy’s “Simmer”!

The season’s pretty hot, but you’re gonna need to cool down when UK Recording Artist/Actress Mahalia’s new tune drops! Teaming up with Nigeria Afrobeats Artist Burna Boy, they release “Simmer“! Produced by Jonah Christian and Felix Joseph, the Artists get into some relationship talk over a very familiar sample. Taking its place as an instantly recognizable sound is Jamaican Producer Jeremy Harding’s 1997 “Playground Riddim“! Released through the 2 Hard label, the Riddim featured Sean Paul’s “Infiltrate“, Cobra’s “Pet and Pamper“, Mr. Vegas’ “Nike Air“, and Beenie Man’s “Who Am I” a.k.a. “Sim Simma“! This isn’t the first time that the “Playground Riddim” has been sampled by Krept & Konan, and Bizzy Bone. Stay tuned to the Blog for a follow Article on this Riddim.

Yami Bolo, Tenor Saw, & Joe Lickshot Sampled On New @FreddieGibbs & @MadLib Album!

Recently, US Rapper Freddie Gibbs and Producer Madlib teamed up to release their latest collab project, “Bandana“. Following up on the “Piñata” project, the they blend various sounds with gritty lyrics for all to enjoy. While many samples grace this project, track 5 a.k.a. “Massage Seats” features a sample from Reggae/Dancehall Artist Yami Bolo, the late Dancehall Artist Tenor Saw, and Reggae Artist Joe Lickshot. The sample comes from the trio’s contribution to the 1991 project, “Radio, Dance Hall Live” which later became known as “Tenor Saw Lives On: A Tribute To Tenor Saw” which was released by the Sky High label. The sample can be heard various times throughout the project.

Yami Bolo, Tenor Saw, and Joe Lickshot join the likes of Producer Danny Browne, and the late Billy Boyo who had their works sampled by Hip Hop acts this year. Tenor Saw’s music was recently featured in the Netflix film, “See You Yesterday” which was co-directed by Spike Lee. Freddie Gibbs and Madlib’s “Bandana” is out now, but you can check out the featured tracks below. Producer/Recording Artist/Videographer Kris Karz was away for a while, and now he’s back with new content from his “Kngly Live” Imprint. Having released a series of Vlogs, viewers get to see some behind the scenes stuff, and everyday happenings in Kris’ life. In his latest Vlog he gets into Cable management and BTS production, and he lets us in on a song he made. Inspired by the Donald Glover, Letitia Wright, and Rihanna starred “Guava Island“, Kris Karz takes us from idea, to creation of the beats and lyrics, to the finished product. How did he do? The summer’s made for fun, plenty heat, and new love. For Rhiya Luna, she’s hitting the road with her heart to give it a new home. She shares her story on “Not Here“! With Nuh Response Production’s assistance, Rhiya is on a mission to find “The one“, but she breaks a few hearts along the way. She can’t help it, and her journey will soon end.

While Rhiya Luna has been busy showcasing her talents like her recent gig at Reggae Artist Etana’s Massachusetts tour stop, she’s looking to spread her music to many more places, and make real connections with Artists in various parts of the globe. Expect more music from her this summer.

The word “Bayo” comes from the Yoruba language meaning “She brings us joy“. Today, Code Red Sound Selector DJ Lank will assist in the joy you will receive this summer with the release of his first official production, the “Bayo Riddim“! Described as “A modern version of that old time Jamaican, Poco Man Skank type of vibe“, Lank promises that the Bayo Riddim will be one of your 2019 favourites, and will have the world dancing up a storm. With Artists like Tifa, Beenie Man, I-Octane, ZJ Liquid, Coppershot Cutty, Blak Diamon, Chris Dymond, and Medikk having singles on the Riddim, expect these to turn into mainstream hits, and increase the vibes wherever the party is!

With a career starting in High School, DJ Lank has been providing the sound at various events locally and Internationally for many years. Whether he’s selecting alongside his Code Red Sound family or handling business solo, Lank never fails in getting the people moving and enjoying themselves. Having released a project with International Recording Artist Gyptian recently, DJ Lank felt the time was right to get the “Bayo Riddim” out in the streets, and looks forward to feedback from listeners. While you can find him at your favourite events this summer, Lank promises there will be more Riddims for you to enjoy.
