.@Jah9 Gives Us Strong Words & Beautiful Music In “Note To Self” Short Film

When Jah 9 speaks, many will listen. With a career that has been well-regarded and respected, she continues to elevate to higher heights. With album #3, “Note To Self” seeing a release date, she gets in her creative bag to give us the “Note To Self” Short Film.

Directed by Fernando F. Hevia and Samo Kush, Jah 9 dives into the theme of self-awareness through her combination of Music and Art into a beautiful experience that runs for 13 minutes. She shares that, “Getting to know one’s self can seem like an obscure pursuit, but the study is indeed rewarding. Get intimate with your boundaries and the ways in which your essence is contained. In many ways, surviving can be like a war against a vast unknown world, it will prove invaluable having an intimate understanding of yourself and the materials, talents, flaws and gifts you are given. A proper inventory is key. The Note To Self documentary gives context to the album which I do my best to share myself in this state of consistent inventory management,” Jah9 states. “These themes and transitions are visited on the songs throughout the album, and then revisited in narrative form through this documentary. Together they present a summary of my latest effort, a self thesis.”

Recording Artist/Producer Kris Karz continues his grind as he churns out more content for your headtop. Still pushing his Youtube Channel (Get him to 400 Subs!), he released his latest video earlier.

In the video, Kris starts off with a lil Beat making, showing us to step by step process in how he gathers his sounds. Once the Beat is complete, he gives us a lil Freestyle in the end. If you haven’t been familiar with Kris Karz, he’s a Jamaican born/Florida based Recording Artist/Producer, owner of Kngly Studios, and has worked with the likes of Blvk H3ro, Royal Blu, Dylan Golden, and many more. He also hosts an Acoustic series titled “Kngly Live!” on Youtube.

She looks to cover more ground this year, and place her name in the ranks as one of the dominating Dancehall Artists.

Kicking off the Friday with new music from Blvk H3ro and Wayne J with the track, “Original“! This marks the first release from the duo through the Delicious Vinyl Island Imprint. Produced by Kraiggi BadRasta for Bad Art Music, Blvk and Wayne tackle the Riddim like it was the Villain in a Kung Fu flick. Throughout the track, they pay homage to foundation Artists like Super Cat, Sugar Minott, Papa San, and many more.

Wayne J, who has been in the music business since a Toddler, is looking to cover more ground, and shake up the scene as a Teen Recording Artist. Be on the look out for more releases from him. Blvk H3ro on the other hand, is looking to celebrate 1 year since the release of his debut album, “The Immortal Steppa” come February 15, and has plans to release more tracks in the coming weeks. You can also catch him on the road as a part of The Wailers Trio.

“The Apollo Series” Expands Reach & Honours Hip Hop Icon With @TheJMCEffect Partnership!

The Apollo Series, the open stage and artist showcase which has made its mark on Kingston’s live music scene over the past two years, has now partnered with the Jamaica Music Conference (JMC), which seeks to connect music professionals. The JMC team will be present at The Apollo Series on February 8 at The Haven to interact with artistes while the conference, which takes place February 13 – 16, will feature The Apollo Showcase on its opening night at Dub Garden, 10A West King’s House Road, Kingston 10.

The Apollo Showcase will serve as a welcome of sorts for JMC’s special guest of honour, DJ Kool Herc, the Jamaica-born man credited as Hip Hop’s forefather. In appropriate fashion, The Apollo Series has curated a 30-minute showcase that will highlight some of the best local Hip Hop talent to have graced its stage. Five Steez, The Sickest Drama and Inztinkz of the Kingston and New York-based collective The Council is slated to appear, with a feature from Dizzy the Ill One.

“We see the JMC as an essential forum, filling the gap of formal knowledge sharing in the country’s music landscape,” says organiser of The Apollo Series and head of A.C.T.I.O.N. Jamaica, Simon the Writer. “We feel there is a perfect synergy between our two events and this is further strengthened by the proximity in our dates and our mutual affiliation with Reggae Month.”
Simon the Writer said when presented with the opportunity to curate a showcase, The Apollo Series team could not pass up on the opportunity. “We feature all kinds of talent on our platform and that includes local Hip Hop artistes, so it was a no-brainer for us to present a set suitable for a guest of honour such as DJ Kool Herc.”

JMC Chief Executive Officer Kwasi Bonsu says, “We’re elated to have The Apollo Showcase as a part of our conference. They have been doing a lot of groundwork in exposing artistes and I know they will have a strong and unique presentation for our audience.”

The Apollo Showcase is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. after the official welcome event on Thursday, February 13. The conference, which will continue through to Saturday at the Courtleigh Hotel, will feature other showcases, panels and events geared towards sharing best practices in the music industry. The JMC closes on Sunday, February 16, with the Itopia Life Beach Day at Wickie Wackie Beach.

What started as an activity among friends, quickly became a viral moment for Gotti OG, and OG Mini with the creation of the “Doukie Bounce“. The new dance has found its way to being a hit among regular party patrons, and one of the names that helped further its popularity is Selector Brush 1 Chromatic. To further promote it, Brush 1 teamed up with the “Sauce Boss” Kemar Highcon, and Recording Artist Kacique for the dance’s official song last year. Tonight, fans of the song can now get an official viral video!

Directed by Panda Studios, viewers who haven’t been familiar with the dance, can now catch up. With various familiar faces making cameo appearances, we can tell they all had a lot of fun putting together this video. Where will the Doukie Bounce pop up next? Only time will tell.
