After dropping his very enjoyable mixtape yesterday, DJ Fella releases one of his remixes that features Vybz Kartel and Gaza Slim. Remixing Kartel’s “You Want Me” and Gaza Slim’s part in “Everything You Need” over Chris Brown’s “Loyal” instrumental, Fella blends these tracks well and adds more excitement to two hit songs and a hit instrumental. what do you think? After hitting hard with their collab “Straight Jeans and Fitted“, Vybz Kartel and Rvssian team up for a new single. Titled “Yellow Yellow“, we hear lyrics about getting fresh gear and jewelry, and having all the girls go crazy over them anywhere they go. This tag team may have done it again, the only problem is that Kartel won’t be around to perform it live with Rvssian. Sounding like it could be big for the summer, check out the track below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
Another day, another new Vybz Kartel single pops up, and we’re not mad at that! Titled “Downtown Kingston“, Kartel gives us the day to day happenings and what you can get in Downtown, Kingston. From beauty products to food to clothing, Downtown has it all. I love this single as it sounds like it could be Downtown’s theme song. You can never deny that Vybz Kartel is a lyricist and made a song for anything. If only Kartel didn’t get caught up in crime. Today on Power 105.1’s “The Breakfast Club”, Dancehall artist Beenie Man made a guest appearance. Here he shared his thoughts on the T.I./Floyd Mayweather fight and cheating, Vybz Kartel’s current situation, Kingston, overseas acts recording in Jamaica, working with female artists, staying current after all these years, being a “Gallis“, his new EP “The Greatest Gallis“, avoiding beefs and his current tour. It’s still good to see Beenie doing his thing after so many years and he gets my respect for that. Beenie sure loves to “twang” (ha!). While many prepare for the day’s activities on Labor Day, some are “laboring” as we speak. Tonight, a new Vybz Kartel single may just be the spark to help out with tonight’s “toil“. Titled “Tun Back Way” and produced by Markus Records on the “Sex Mate Riddim“, we hear Vybz speaking on how he wants his lady to entice him and thrill him with various moves. Just when people thought there was an end, more Kartel songs keep popping up. I’m not mad at that. Check out the track below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
After leaving the Portmore Empire, many thought Black Ryno would’ve faded away from the Dancehall scene. In efforts to not fade away he was a part of Sting 2012 where things got ugly between he and former Gaza brethren Popcaan. In 2013 he redeemed himself on that stage by defeating Kiprich in a war of words. Since then the question has been, “What has Ryno been up to?” and he answered on Onstage. He spoke about the projects he has been working on, Sting 2012 and 2013, thoughts on the Vybz Kartel verdict and sentencing, why he left the Portmore Empire, defending his Clash title at Sting 2014, and previewed new music. Looking forward to hear more work from Black Ryno as he was one of the artists I’ve looked out from the Gaza camp.
