NEW VIDEO: @Lucasdipasquale – @PopcaanMusic Mashup

PCReggae is for the people worldwide and today’s video is no exception. Lucas DiPasquale is a singer who covers popular songs on his Youtube channel and in his latest video he covers Dancehall’s own Popcaan. With the help of a microphone and guitar, Lucas gives us  acoustic versions of Popcaan’s hits. Very great effort here as he caught the lyrics that were done in Patois (Jamaican creole) very well. Big ups to Lucas and I hope the right people are hearing him. Check out the video below and share your thoughts in the comments section.

NEW VIDEO: @OnstageTV Interviews Mad Cobra

MC

The term “Dancehall in jail” is slowly becoming an actual thing with entertainers like Vybz Kartel and Busy Signal seeing jail time, many fear that Dancehall music will not see better days. As an entertainer who has seen great success for many years, Deejay Mad Cobra had a chat with Winford Williams on a few things. Here he spoke about returning to the U.S., being a victim of gun violence in 2010 and losing his visa, thoughts on Vybz Kartel’s imprisonment, walking away from violence, getting the big break with “Flex” and being signed to Columbia Records in the 90s, being absent from the spotlight for a while, studying Shabba Ranks performances, Sting and much more. Great interview here and a history lesson too, Cobra has always been a respected artist and veteran of his craft and he’s still churning out hits. Check out the videos below and share your thoughts in the comments section.

a16dxzGiven that today is “Throwback Thursday” for some, why not bring my readers back in time with one of Vybz Kartel’s last performances before being apprehended by the law. Performing at Reggae Sumfest 2011, Vybz, along with Sheba, Popcaan, Gaza Slim, Tommy Lee Sparta, and Shawn Storm, performed a slew of hits and brought a lot of energy to the event. For many, this would’ve been the last time they’ve seen Vybz Kartel perform live. Check out the video below and share your thoughts in the comments section.

VYBZ-KARTEL

With Vybz Kartel and his co-accused all serving life sentences, many fans feel that “Dancehall is dead” and there’ll never be another artist quite like him. While the “Dancehall is dead” statement is a bit far-fetched, this marks as a loss to the music community. Below are some of the reactions from fellow members of the music fraternity after hearing the sentencing.
