Legendary Hip Hop Artist Busta Rhymes is back with a new focus, and an arsenal of lyrics that are as potent as ever. The Rapper has been in the game for 3 decades, and can still hang with the young ones. Earlier today he released his latest EP, “The Fuse Is Lit“, and one of the tracks, “Bulletproof Skin“, features Dancehall Artist Skillibeng!

Over a Rvssian-produced track, Busta Rhymes and Skillibeng trade bars, styles, and energy throughout “Bulletproof Skin”. The collaboration was previewed a few weeks ago, and it shows that true legends will always bring up the youths. Accompanying the new track, is a music video directed by Sam Lecca that places the two Artists on the big screen. Busta Rhymes has always been proud to share his Jamaican roots, and he has always found a way to highlight it through collaborations, remixes, or even mixing some of his tracks with a cultural flair.

Good to see Skillibeng advancing with more International collaborations, and with news of DJ Khaled scoring a GRAMMY nomination that featured the Dancehall Artist, we can look forward to him dominating even more.

Western Union has launched a first-of-its kind campaign that celebrates Jamaican language and culture in Philadelphia, and it features Philadelphia’s own DJ Drama, a GRAMMY Award winner and newly crowned BET Hip-Hop DJ of the Year; and Jamaican Dancehall singjay Mr. Vegas to capture the essence of both cultures in one seamless activation.

The “Boonununus” campaign which runs up to December 31, 2022 is rooted in the insight that when people send money, they are sending love, possibilities, support, and the opportunity to create more happy moments and memories. Jamaicans use the word “boonununus” to describe something delightful and pleasing. Centering the campaign around the “boonununus” moment of sending money via Western Union free of charge is the perfect opportunity to celebrate Jamaica in a unique way.

The goal of the “Boonununus” campaign is to create an ecosystem of happy moments anchored in giving back to the community and merged with passion points like music and dancing. The result is a unique, ground-breaking musical collaboration between the Philly-native DJ Drama and Mr. Vegas, one of Jamaica’s most recognized voices in Dancehall.

DJ Drama was tapped for the “Boonununus” campaign based on his love for his Philly roots, family, friends, and supporters. Mr. Vegas, one of Jamaican dancehall’s most successful and distinctive artistes, was a seamless match for a collaboration as the idea for the campaign took root. After four days working in studio in separate locations, they landed “Boonununus” with its signature rally cry and just might have a hit single in the making.

Dancehall Artist Valiant has been on fire these past few weeks. Thanks to his catchy “Kotch E Hat A Lie?” phrase that has become a phenomenon on Social Media, he quickly witnessed his star power increasing gradually. Capitalizing off the buzz, he previewed a song that grew its own wings, and spiraled out of control on platforms like TikTok. Recently, he made it official with the visual for the track called, “Dunce Cheque“.

Directed by KhingCam, Valiant and his friends find themselves pulling up to school in their flashy rides, setting up for some fun times in the classroom. Shot at a Basic School, Valiant and friends don uniforms, further emphasizing the lines about being at the back of the class, and being labelled as “dunce“. “Dunce Cheque” does however highlight the success that was made possible despite the setback, and Valiant shares a bit about that on the Music UK Records/Diplomats Records produced track.

Since the video’s release on November 8, it has accumulated nearly 1.1 Million Youtube views. “Dunce Cheque” earned quite the popularity in preview form as it’s well into the 10s of Millions mark online, but the video promises to do even more damage in the coming days. Feedback has been mainly positive for “Dunce Cheque”, streaming numbers are set to cause a stir. Expect to see and hear more of Valiant in the coming weeks, we know Social Media will be ready.

Nigerian Afrobeats star WizKid returns to form with the release of his long-awaited album, “More Love, Less Ego“. The album was teased weeks ago, and has finally found its place in the collections of fans from around the world. The album boasts a heavy lineup, including Dancehall Artists Skillibeng and Shenseea, who join him on the track, “Slip N Slide“.

Produced by P2J, WizKid brought along Skillibeng and Shenseea for a track that aims to bring out the sensual sides of the listeners. They all deliver in their own way on “Slip N Side”, with Skilli and ShenYeng further securing more International collaborations to add to their growing discographies. Shenseea has been busy in recent months, and looks to dominate even more in 2023, while Skillibeng has been taking over various stages, and getting collabs with some of the biggest names out. For those who love the drama, your screens come alive as the popular VH1 series “Love & Hip Hop” returns with another season. This time around, they reunite some of the original cast members in a series called, “Family Reunion“. Featuring some of your favourites from Atlanta, Miami, New York, and Los Angeles, viewers will be tuning in for a lot of fights, outbursts, tears, and laughs while the cast members bring it during their stay in Jamaica. For the show’s new trailer, Dancehall/Reggae Artist Koffee makes an appearance through song.

The recent weeks weren’t too kind to Dancehall Songstress Shaneil Muir. With news of her having conflicts with members of her past and present teams, to announcing her exit from Dancehall, we can’t imagine the immense stress she is under. We do wish for her the best in these challenging times. On her new single “Born Rich“, she thinks about her life in an alternative way.

Produced by CJ The Chemist for Chemist Records, Shaneil Muir shares some of her past with listeners on “Born Rich”. She shares some of her traumatic experiences that will leave fans teary-eyed, and she ponders on how different life would’ve been if her parents never experienced hardships and struggle. Shaneil has never been one to hide her pain, and the song will have you thinking about life in an alternative universe.
