OLDIES SUNDAY: Elephant Man – Chaka Chaka Dance (2004)

Today, we celebrate the Birthday of a Jamaican Music legend by the name of Elephant Man! For close to 30 years, Elephant Man has been giving you hits, brought an energy like no other, and has influenced many. For today’s Oldies Sunday selection, we highlight one of his dance hits, “Chaka Chaka Dance“!

Produced by Fire Links and released in 2004 on the “Chaka Chaka Riddim“, Elephant Man stepped out with a new song to promote the new dance called, “Chaka Chaka“. Having a knack for remixing popular songs and making them his own, Elephant Man borrowed the cadence from Eric “Monty” Morris’Sammy Dead” for “Chaka Chaka Dance”. With the line “Dance to di Riddim, Chaka Chaka…“, we were in for a fun time packed with high energy, and a workout. “Chaka Chaka Dance” was a hit for Elephant Man, appearing on charts in Jamaica and parts of the Caribbean. The single was further promoted with a Music Video directed by Llewellyn “BigDaddyLeo” O’Reggio, which was filmed during a staging of the weekly “Weddy Weddy” street dance event in Kingston, and featured many of the popular Jamaican Dancers.

Since the success of “Chaka Chaka”, Elephant Man continued to enjoy a more successful music career that is still very active. With a ton of hits to his name, “Chaka Chaka Dance” is high on the list for some.

Thank You Elephant Man For This Classic!

The topic of “Jacket” has been a prevalent one from practically the beginning of time. Jamaica has been one of the countries that ranks high where this is concerned, and it has gotten messy when Men discovered that the child or children they have been supporting for years, is not biologically theirs. While there have been various motives behind this, the “Jacket” dilemma is still in business. Dancehall Artist Shane O tackles the topic on “7 Jacket“.

Directed by KD Visualz, Shane O finds himself in a questionable situation in the video for “7 Jacket”. Surrounded by 7 children, he attempts to solve the mystery of the Woman he has been involved with has been deceiving him all this time. He starts to notice the features of the children belonging to Men around his way, and it has been causing a headache. .@KyngTavii Stands Out On New Single, “Ahhrite”!

It’s no secret that many of our favourite Social Media personalities have ventured into music. The likes of Prince Pine, Twani Price, Nitro Immortal, and Swizzz are just a few who have made the move. Kyng Tavii is another who has ventured into music, but it hasn’t been new for him. Since 2016, we were introduced to “Foodkaline“, and Tavii has sprinkled pieces of original music in his skits, and during a time when he took a break from Comedy. With the renewed energy and love that has stepped his way recently, he gets back to business. This time around, we get the new track, “Ahhrite“.

Produced by Khywellfryy, Kyng Tavii continues to show that he’ll pretty multi-faceted. Music was always a part of him, and he has proven that with previous releases. Over some Guitar based production, he’s going with the Universe, and show off his skillset. He speaks on some of his experiences, shares what naysayers have said to him, and steps with his best foot forward with sharp lyrics, and a flow that took some dedication to develop. He may be a Comedian, but with his deejaying/rapping skills, he can stand with some of the best of them out. Don’t box Tavii into a corner, watch him make moves.
