Dancehall recording artiste Spookie received his big break with the release of the hit single ‘Hurt it Up’. This single has certainly placed Spookie high up the ladder of the dancehall scene, landing him more dedicated fans and more opportunities.

Spookie shared, “The experience is great! To hear a large crowd of people sing my song word-for-word is breath taking”. He explained that the love he has been receiving for his single has extended far beyond the UK; “My overseas fans have been reaching out to me and giving me a lot of positive energy and I respect that, especially my fellow Jamaicans”. Spookie who presently resides in the UK has not just pleased UK patrons but has garnered the attention of producers in Jamaica as well. Through several major websites and his social media, Jamaican fans have seen Spookie excel at major shows like Pelpa Fest and Goodas since the start of this year.

He added “In addition to those shows I was on the Good Book UK Tour with Demarco and I have also been on shows with Gully Bop. I read all the comments from the websites and from my mediums and as such I will in Jamaica this summer promoting and reaching out to my loyal fans”. The ‘Hurt it Up’ artiste also shared that this is just the beginning adding that he has plans to become a household name in Dancehall music.

Spookie shared that he is more “focused” than ever and is now preparing for his highly anticipated appearance in Jamaica this upcoming summer.

He also gets at those who claim the title and make a mockery of it. Lots of feelings might get hurt and feathers ruffled on this track but Strykk knows who he is and won’t take back his statements. OLDIES SUNDAY: @DavidRudder – High Mas (Give Praise) (1998)

Taking it to another Caribbean Island this Oldies Sunday. The selection comes from Trinidadian artist, David Rudder. Titled “High Mas (Give Praise)” and produced by JW Productions in 1998, Rudder brought the church to the Mas (Masquerade). With great backup vocals and a energetic Calypso production, the song was done as a prayer asking for guidance during the Carnival season in Trinidad & Tobago.

PRESS RELEASE: @JoJosJerkPit Raw Talent Competition


JOJOS Raw Talent Contest

Jo Jo’s Jerk Pit and More, an award winning family brand,has over the years captivated taste buds of its patrons with their mouth watering menu items, however they are now taking a step into unchartered waters, as they search for the next Jamaican singing sensation during their Raw Talent Competition.

The Competition will run from April 2 – June 27th.
According to Anna Chin, Owner of Jo Jo’s Jerk Pit and More, she conceptualized this series after working with dancehall group TOK on their event Blue Mountain Music Festival during which she fell in love with live music.
She further states, “I created this raw talent competition, so that I could take the raw talent from our Karaoke Thursdays event to our Live Music night on a Saturday while in our own small way contributing to the development of young and promising talent in Jamaica”.

Eliminations for the Raw Talent Competition happens each Thursday night in April at 10PM at Jo Jo’s Jerk Pit and More located on Waterloo Road; in Kingston. The weekly elimination format takes place during their very popular Karaoke Night, with contestants performing karaoke style, in front of a live audience. Performances are scored by a panel of celebrity judges who select two contestants to move on to the next round of the competition and a step closer to the first place cash prize of JMD$100,000 and an opportunity to perform in the finals with a live band.

The winner of The RAW TALENT COMPETITION will not only walk away with cash, but also have the opportunity to work with a Grammy award winning producer as well as receive a professionally produced music video.
The competition’s Second Place winner will receive a cash prize of JM$50,000 while Third place will receive JM$25,000.

Unfortunately with fame comes controversy so tonight Bop joined the Onstage set to speak on his experiences. Here he spoke on his trip to the UK and his adventures there, receiving great fanfare, addressing the controversies, performing sold out shows in the Caribbean, his collaboration with Stylo G, being a target for scammers, working on new music, upcoming tours and a possible appearance at Reggae Sumfest.
