Having made noise with his Sfera Ebbasta featured “Pablo” a couple months ago, he puts the track on a US flight to ATL’s Trap Music scene for the remix featuring Rappers MoneyBagg Yo, Rich The Kid, and Lil Baby! Expect a lot of money talk and endless trapping on this one, just ensure you’re wearing a Gucci Tracksuit with matching sneakers with the money phones pressed to your ear throughout. OLDIES SUNDAY: Andru Donalds – Mishale (1994)

Today’s Sunday, and that means it’s another “Oldies Sunday“! for today’s selection, we go back to the year 1994 and check out Andru Donalds’ “Mishale“! Produced by Eric Foster White, this was released through Metro Blue Records (a subsidiary of Capitol Records), and song finds Andru expressing how much he misses this woman despite breaking her heart, and the pain he feels for being separated from her. With a unique sound, this Reggae track that was made for International airplay. The song was featured on Andru Donalds’ self titled debut album which was released in 1994.

(Editor’s note: I remember when the video for this premiered on Jamaica’s “Entertainment Report”, and became a fixture on local TV for a while.)

“Mishale” became a hit for Donalds as it received a great amount of radio play in Jamaica, and made it to #38 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The single was also remixed by Ben Chapman, Eric Kupper and Richie Jones, and Luv Dup. Since “Mishale”, Donalds has went on to release 5 more albums including a “Best of” in 2006, found a couple more hits, got his music featured in two Films (Good Will Hunting and Barefoot), and became a lead Singer in the German musical project, Enigma. He is currently touring and spreading the music all over the world, and you can check for his next performance on his website.

While she showed us that you have to aim high and put in the work on her debut single, she now encourages us to have “Ambition“! Released through her Mother Raine Seville’s Seville Records, Layla borrows the legendary Bam Bam Riddim from Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare and drops some words that we all need to hear with her proud Mama helping out throughout the song. Whether you’re 2 months or 99 years old, ambition is something that we should all have in order to achieve greatness in life. Layla-Rei gets to work in the video playing various roles, and this was made possible through the efforts of Michael McLeish, and Rockwildaz who handled directing and editing duties. Since his debut in the 2000’s, the “Gully Gad” has been working hard to seal his place as one of the best Dancehall Artists to touch the mic. While there were feuds and many detractors, he puts his foot on the speaker box and unleashes the “Dancehall Prophecy“! With Justus Arison controlling the production on the soon to be released Time Machine Riddim, Mavado puts his heart into this song as he speaks on some of his trials and rising above the adversities, coming from nothing and seeing success on another level, doing a lot for Dancehall, and staying on top of his game despite those who wish his demise and try to stop him from taking care of his family. The video accompanying the track shows Mavado linking with some of the best including performing with DJ Khaled, seeing fans from a various parts of the world enjoy his music, and highlighting the loved ones he puts his all for.
