450 Rises Above His Enemies On “Miles Off”!

Life is filled with many obstacles. Life is also filled with people who will stop at nothing to shatter your dreams, and crush your hope. Fortunately, there is a higher power that guides us to sidestep these things and people. The road may be rocky, but we’ll persevere. Recording Artist 450 has his share of troubles, but he’s holding the faith on “Miles Off“.

“Miles Off” is a collaboration with 450 and Popstyle Music, and with a video directed by Djuvii, the Deejay finds ways to be steps ahead of those who wish to see him fail. He shares that his paranoia is real, but with smart thinking and strong faith, he manages to continue his days with not a scratch on him. The video features a few familiar faces including Comedian Valdomore, and 450 gives the people something that they can “meds” to. 450 continues to impress, and with more music and performances in the pipeline, watch his profile grow to another level this year.

February is celebrated as Reggae Month. It also recognizes Black History Month in many parts of the world. The month is also one for love as Valentine’s Day is celebrated. For today’s Oldies Sunday selection, we celebrate a Black Man who created a love song in the name of Reggae. His name is Maxi Priest, and we check out “Close To You“.

Produced by Handel Tucker, Geoffrey Chung, and Sly Dunbar, Maxi Priest’s “Close To You” was released in 1990 through Charisma Records. The song finds Priest being completely smitten by a girl who may seem like trouble. Regardless, but he is eager to be close to her, catering to her every need. The Reggae Fusion track featured smooth vocals by Priest backed by a production that was sure to captivate your entire being. “Close To You” was an instant hit for Maxi Priest, it scored a #1 slot on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, and top 10 placements in the UK, New Zealand, Canada, Australia, and various countries in Europe. The single also went Gold in Sweden and Australia. “Close To You” was featured on Priest’s 5th studio album, the Gold-selling “Bonafide“. With the catchy hook, it quickly became a mainstay for R&B mixtape lovers, especially for couples during the Valentine’s season. “Close To You” was covered by the likes of Origene, B3, Pachanga, Jay Delano, and The Uptown Band. The song was sampled by the likes of Jay Sean, Eric B & Rakim, and Tony Sunshine.

Since the release of “Close To You”, Maxi Priest went on to have a successful career in the 1990s. He is still an active Artist, having secured GRAMMY nominations over the years, and is still celebrated worldwide as one of the most successful Reggae Fusion Artists Internationally. “Close To You” will be remembered as one of his most recognized singles, and one to keep in rotation for Valentine’s Day.

Glorii Shares His “Paralyzed Thoughts” In New Video!

Times are serious, especially for a black person living in the Caribbean. The topic of Mental Health continues to be brought up in many conversations as the everyday life can be detrimental, and many of us are just trying to find a way out of the madness. Upcoming Dancehall Artist Glorii is one of those going through it, and with his new video, he shares his “Paralyzed Thoughts“.

A collaboration with Dynasty Global Jamaica, the KD Visuals-directed video finds Glorii just holding firm, trying to overcome the many challenges he faces. On a mission to make the money that will take him and his family out of poverty, he is met with people who will put him 6 feet deep for nothing, or try to sidetrack his journey. While he’s no angel, he shares his thoughts with God, and prays that he is guided along the way, and forgiven for his transgressions. Glorii has been on the scene for some time, and has a number of singles that have been making their way to various headphones and speakers worldwide. It’s never easy in this life journey, but we pray for better days.

Dancehall Artist Skillibeng continues his mission of being Internationally known in 2023. The Deejay hasn’t wasted any time securing collaborations with various International Artists and Producers, and taking the stage in various Countries in the name of Dancehall, and E-Syde. With many of your faves knowing him by name, he’s going up more levels. The “New Collab Alert” today is one with Rapper Nardo Wick called, “16CHOPPA“.

With a video directed by Jenzar, Skillibeng and Nardo Wick bring the guns out on “16Choppa”. Bringing some Jamaican badness to Florida, Skilli continues to show that his sound can go on anything. The Nardo Wick collab joins the growing number of Hip Hop Artists Skilli connected with, and the list includes French Montana, Ice Spice, Rich The Kid, DJ Khaled, and Busta Rhymes. The year will be an interesting one for Skillibeng, just be on the lookout for what he does next.

Some days are tough, and we all need some sort of pick me up to get us going. Today, we head over to Nigeria to check out AfroPop star Yemi Alade who offers something positive with the single, “Pounds & Dollars”.

With a video directed by Clarence A. Peters, “Pounds & Dollars” features Nigerian Rapper Phyno, and it finds Yemi Alade providing some encouragement here for the dreamers. The video shares a story of believing in yourself and following your dreams as a young lady enters a competition hosted by Yemi, overcoming negativity and getting encouragement from her Mother throughout. This fun visual can serve as a reminder that anything is possible for those who are in doubt, and as Yemi shared in her Twitter bio, “Winning is a habit“. “Pounds & Dollars” is featured on Yemi’s 2022 “African Baddie” EP.
