Her journey may not have been smooth, but she has put a lot of work in to get to where she is now. With a strong catalogue, she fortifies it even more with the release of her debut album, “Treasure Self Love“.

Featuring 11 tracks, Lila Ike presents herself like never before with the release of, “Treasure Self Love”. Like her previous releases, she sheds light on her life, her experiences, musical influences including Garnet Silk and Lady Patra, promotes love, and sets the tone for an expansion of her artistry. She delivers for the people who love music, inviting newcomers to experience what many have been tuned in to. Production on “Treasure Self Love” includes the likes of Ziah.Push, Tim Suby, New Machine, Juls, Dunw3ll, Cadenza, and Winta James, while Protoje, Joey Bada$$, Masicka, H.E.R., and Maverick Sabre join her on a few tracks. “Wurl Lila” has come a long way, and has many more road to trek. Her debut album is just a taste of the new lane she will be pursuing.

Before the month is over, we want to show respect to an Architect in Jamaican Music. a Man who created a wave in the early years of Ska Music, and made his name prominent in other genres, that soon made him an inspiration, and Icon. His name is Byron Lee, and if there was a “National Heroes Of Jamaican Music” category, he would’ve been on the list. The late Musician/Producer/Entrepreneur took the music to new territories, and has received numerous accolades for his accomplishments. His Dynamics Sounds Studio was one of the best in the Caribbean, he produced classics in multiple genres, and he gave us “Jamaica Carnival“, popularizing Soca Music in Jamaica, making it accessible for everyone. His band, The Dragonaires, became the standard for many bands in the Caribbean, and have been in movies, on the Radio, and at an event near you. Byron Lee has done so much for Jamaican Music, but today we’re highlighting some of the music that sampled the work of Mr. Lee in our latest Playlist.

While the list is not long, we invite you to tune in to some of the hits that Byron Lee produced over the years, and some of the tracks that used his sound to make their own hits. From Ska, to Dancehall, to Hip Hop, Lee’s DNA could be found in some of your faves. Those who are not familiar, can use this Playlist as a start into discovering more from the late Icon. It’s that time of year when the yutes are gearing up for their return to the classroom. Many have been prepared with essentials since the early part of Summer, but what about those who haven’t checked off anything off of their lists? Thanks to a number of organizations, celebrities/public figures, and businesspersons, parents have been breathing a sigh of relief through back to school events all over Jamaica. Recording Artist Lila Ike is one of those public figures who always gave back to her community of Christiana in Manchester, and this year was no different with the second staging of her “Back To School Treat” with her “Blessings And Light Foundation“.

Sponsored by a number of corporations including Clarks Shoes, Butterkist, Seprod, Megamart, Mother’s, and fellow Artists and businesspersons, Lila Ike ensured that the kids would go back to school with a few essentials at her Back To School Treat. Held at the Christiana Bus Park on Sunday Sept. 1, attendees were treated to rides, free food, supplies for those still affected by Hurricane Beryl, and school supplies. Lila made it her mission to give back to her community, and has never looked back. The day closed off in a major way thanks to a free concert that featured performances by Ike along with Protoje, Romain Virgo, Jah Lil, Jahshii, and a number of Artists from within the community. Looking back at the past can’t always be a bad thing as it aids in your growth, and shows how much your life has improved along the way. Lila Ike has come a long way however, and today she lets us in on her journey on “Where I’m Coming From“! With a visual directed by Nickii Kane and Lila, Lila went back to her hometown of Christiana, Manchester (Manchester’s the home of this Blog 😄) to reconnect and built a vibe with friends, family, the In.Digg.Nation team, and Chi Ching Ching! The visual also shows a younger Lila Ike during her Manchester High School (Sic Luceat Lux) days where was seen assisting the School Choir, performing at her graduation, and interacting with friends. With Lila, you know the fashion will come out as she rocked various hairstyles and outfits throughout.

With solid singles out, Lila Ike is continuing her path in being one of the upcoming greats in recent years. Regardless of where she is in life, she’ll always give thanks to The Most High for the blessings and the strength throughout. Be on the lookout for Lila Ike as she’ll be performing in a town near you soon on her headlining European Tour! Lila Ike EP on the way too.
