It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and you know it’s party time. When it’s Christmas time in Jamaica, expect a lot of fun activities. While some may think about the cold, fret not because there will be plenty of beverages to warm you up along with enjoying a party or few. Dancehall Artists Elephant Man and Busy Signal step in to add to the holiday vibes with, “Party Anthem 2.0“.

In a LCRJ Media-directed Music Video, Elephant Man and Busy Signal emphasize the party aspect of the holiday season with the visual for their “Party Anthem 2.0” collaboration. Taking it to the house, we see the liquor flowing, the girls dancing, the money flying, and the good vibes increasing by the second. If you feel it’s too hot, then you can take a dip in the pool around the back. Be careful in your explorations, you may be interrupting a fun moment. Ele and Busy further solidify their friendship, and deliver with their collaboration that will make its rounds. We urge you all to stay safe in your adventures this season, and remember to have fun. Ring In The Holidays With Circa Eleven & The “Peppa Lights” Project

December we’re here, and that means Christmas is around the corner. There will be plenty to be festive about, including new music! Production duo Circa Eleven are getting involved in the festivities this time around, and they have a new EP for the holidays. It’s time to update your holiday playlists with the new “Peppa Lights” EP.

Featuring 3 tracks, the lineup of Recording Artists Gio Mar (son of Wayne Marshall), Jay YGT, and Rizk are celebrating a “Dancehall Christmas” with Circa Eleven on “Peppa Lights, Vol. 1“. What started out as a conversation during a TikTok live about the need for some Dancehall-themed Christmas music this past November, quickly turned into a series of recordings from a number of Artists. When approaching the creation of the EP, Circa wanted to pay tribute to classic Christmas music on the production while the Artists shared their own prospectives when it came to Christmas music. On “First Christmas“, Gio Mar shared his need for his special person for the holidays, on “Holiday Time“, Jay YGT sought to rekindle some lost love for the season, while Rizk was in a festive mood as he parties away on “Jolly Dolly“. For those craving new music, get this in your collection, and stay tuned…maybe they follow up with more music. It’s the holidays!

OLDIES SUNDAY (Christmas): The MerryMen – Drink A Rum (1974)

It’s December, and that means it’s Christmas time! No matter what has been happening in the year, we all look forward to this holiday season. With the holidays come time off for the schoolers, and for the older crowd it’s party time in every way, or an extra payday. For today’s Oldies Sunday selection, we head over to Barbados, who just celebrated their Independence Day, to check out The Merrymen’s version of, “Drink A Rum“.

Produced by The Merrymen for Merry Disc and released in 1974, “Drink A Rum” is a cover version of Trini Calypso legend Lord Kitchener’s 1959 track of the same name. The Merrymen group, which is consisted of 5 members, all performed the track, blending harmonies and instruments for a song that celebrated the drinking part of the holiday season. Rum in various forms are consumed, and they are sure to bring the joy, warmth into the chilly time, and “kick” into the joyous occasions. While the original “Drink A Rum” was a popular Calypso song, their version did well in Barbados, throughout the Caribbean, and other parts of the world, and became a song that enjoyed radio airplay around the Christmas season. The track was released on their 1988 Christmas album, “Caribbean Christmas Party“. The group have been enjoying a considerable amount of fame, and they performed the song on the road.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from the Blog! The gifts are unwrapped, and the dinner has been consumed, so now it’s time for some entertainment. This evening, we highlight an Artist who has been making strides this year, and we hope his performance gives you a great feeling. His name is Nhance, and takes the stage with, “I Am Blessed“.

In video shot by JV Cinematic, Nhance and his backing band share his blessings with viewers for a live Christmas Day performance of the new single, “I Am Blessed”. He shares some of his trials on the track, but recognizing that a higher power has always been there to guide him. “I Am Blessed” was produced by Tego Boss, Sweet Music, and Damage Musiq, and the Artist may deliver this one on December 26 at the 40th anniversary staging of “Sting” in Portmore, St. Catherine, Jamaica. Count your blessings.

It was the day before Christmas, and everyone’s rushing. They’re either buying gifts to keep loved ones blushing, or checking off lists in grocery shopping. Regardless of what’s going on, it’s Christmas time on Oldies Sunday! We go back in time to check out a selection by UK Reggae Band The Cimarons called, “Holy Christmas“.

Produced by Robert Thompson and E. Mulby for A House Production and released through the Downtown label in 1971, The Cimarons celebrated the true reason for the season in “Holy Christmas”. The song recognizes the birth of Jesus Christ, and encourages everyone to sing of his birth, and foster the right spirit, and sing aloud. Backed by great production, the band delivered soulful vocals for a song that was instantly liked. Hope the season caught you in a good space. Please be safe this Christmas Eve.
