It keeps getting better and better for Jamaican music Icon Shaggy. In the past few years, you could find the GRAMMY winning artist’s music playing in some of your favourite movies, commercials, and even TV shows. Earlier this year, his classic “It Wasn’t Me” was featured in a Cheetos commercial for Super Bowl LV, and now we find his music in the new Netflix series, “Ginny & Georgia“!

In season one of “Ginny & Georgia”, not only was “It Wasn’t Me” featured in the debut episode, but his “Luv Me Luv Me” collaboration with Samantha Cole was featured in episode 6. Originally featured on Shaggy’s 2000 Diamond selling album “Hot Shot“, the artist continues to show that when you make good music, it will live on. “It Wasn’t Me” was released in 2000, and has moved on from being a Billboard charting single, to now being a part of Pop Culture, and becoming a staple in movies and TV shows. Originally released in 1998, “Luv Me Luv Me” originally featured Pop Icon Janet Jackson, and was featured on the soundtrack for “How Stella Got Her Groove Back“. Due to label politics, the single had to be re-recorded and released as a single in 2001 with Pop Artist Samantha Cole as the original was not allowed to be featured on the “Hot Shot” album. “Ginny & Georgia” is a Netflix “Dramedy” series that follows teenager Ginny Miller, and her interactions and display of maturity with her 30 year old mother, Georgia. Kaya Pino is the Music Supervisor behind the series’ soundtrack.

.@OfficialYaksta Shares His “Ambition” & Wise Words In New Video

When it comes to delivering “Message Music“, there are some artists who have it down to a science. In return, they have maintained a very long and rewarding career, and their lyrics make quite the impact generation after generation. For Recording Artist Yaksta, he’s no stranger for delivering that type of music, but today we see and hear a bit more from him in the video for his latest single, “Ambition“.

Shot by Dezignr Studios, Yaksta gets into “Bush Lawd” mode, and shares a few gems with the people over some Afro Boi Entertainment and Wuss Musikk production. When many artists focus on the luxurious living and share it in their songs, Yaksta looks to do the opposite here. With lyrics about having your own business, investing in Farming, Blockchain Technology, and Real Estate, and making life decisions that will be more of assets than liabilities, Yaksta is just doing his part in ensuring that his listeners young and old get motivated by his words, and help to build themselves and each other. Whether you see him in Farming gear, or donning a robe to collect his Degree, he promotes the idea of having ambition. Emerging Recording Artiste Kxng Izem has been consistently building his brand, and delivering a unique Reggae Fusion sound to listeners worldwide for a number of years. With a collection of singles and projects to his name, he looks to build his ever-growing catalogue in 2021, and beyond. His work hasn’t gone unnoticed however, and he recently gained some well needed recognition for it.

2021 saw the advent of the first staging of the “Dubby’s”, an online award event series held by Dubwise Jamaica, the premiere event that was an early advocate of the “Reggae Revival” movement. Co-founded by Jason Panton, the “Dubby’s” was birthed out of a need to recognize local artistes for their contributions to the Jamaican music culture. Held on February 27, Kxng Izem emerged a winner in the “New Coup Breakout Artiste Of 2020” category. Fellow nominees in the category included Leno Banton, Blvk H3ro, Runkus, Joby Jay, Wayne J, and Royal Blu. 2020 found Kxng Izem releasing the singles like “Cool and Easy”, “Brighter Days”, “Stone Love”, and “Sunday Morning”, and looks to follow up with the release of his latest EP, “Wildfire”.

While many will remember the little boy that graced stages with his unique songs, the teenager has been developing his flow, and sharpened his lyrical game since then. Today, we check him out in the visual for the single, “We A Rock Dem“!

Directed by II Fold Creative Studios and shot at locations like the Balcome Park Primary & Junior High School and the Freedom Skate Park, Wayne J takes it to the streets as he fires off hot lyrics over a Mirror Ink Productions beat, and connects with the people as they are sharing good vibes and unity. Wayne J doesn’t hold back as he talks like the “Young Boss” and “Gyallis” that he is, and staying as fresh as ever. He collaborated with Blvk H3ro last year on the “New Millennium” EP, and you can expect to hear him on more tracks this year. Let the music rock you!

On February 17, 2021, the world lost a legend, the great Ewart “U-Roy” Beckford. A man who is the Daddy, the Father, the King, and the Originator of what you know as toasting/deejaying/rapping, he has left behind a great legacy for many others to follow and be inspired by. He may be gone physically, but we know he’s gearing up to nice up every session in the afterlife. Today, we pay tribute to his greatness with the “Sampling U-Roy” Playlist!

The “Sampling U-Roy” Playlist features some of his classics, and some of the tracks that sampled them. With artists like Dennis Brown, Def Jef, IDK, Dawn Penn, and Talib Kweli borrowing from the great Daddy U-Roy, you’re in for an enjoyable and informative listen. May we continue to honour our greats and give them their flowers while they’re still here. All hail the original King of Dancehall! Walk good U-Roy.

JKinggz Invites You To A “Badman Party”

Recording Artist/Entrepreneur JKinggz is one of the many artists who stays on the grind, even during a pandemic. With live shows on the decline since 2020, JKinggz knows he still has to make his brand stay afloat in other ways. The Recording Studio is still open for business however, and JKinggz has been piling up new music for release throughout 2021. One of the tracks he looks to cause a shift on the scene with is his new “Badman Party” single!

Produced by Ransum Records and Russian Mvmnts on the “Night Light Riddim”, JKinggz gets into some Dancehall vibes as he’s on the hunt for the right event to attend. Grabbing his phone, he hits up one of his friends to see what the vibe is like, how many ladies are in attendance, if the bar is well stocked, and is it safe for his crew to make an appearance. While JKinggz utilizes a chill delivery, the track will bring back memories of late night party hopping for some as they are the ones who’ll ensure that the event they are attending is not a waste of time and effort. Despite lockdowns of all sorts worldwide, JKinggz looks forward to the feedback from “Badman Party” and it becoming a playlist favorite, and kick off a higher level of vibes when listeners press play. With a renewed focus for 2021, JKinggz looks to keep the streaming platforms busy with more music in the coming months.

Born in St. Vincent and The Grenadines and moved to Brooklyn, New York as a teen, JKinggz is known for tracks like “Patek”, “Stack This Money” with Dancehall artist Flexxx, and “Fake Love” with UK artist Laughta. He has also released the well received “30 Days (The Life Changing Project)” in 2018, “No Co-sign” in 2019 which received rave reviews, and started off 2021 with the “Guilty” EP.
