Today’s Oldies Sunday selection pays tribute to one of the legends of Reggae Music, the late Dennis Emmanuel Brown. DJ Mucho, along with Earthquake Intl. Sound and Prodigy Movements present “The Promised Land (Tribute To Dennis Emmanuel Brown)“. This mix highlights some of the hits that the “Crown Prince of Reggae” created and even clips from some of his interviews over his rather lengthy career. From a child singer to an influence to future artists, Dennis Brown was always a top act with his commanding delivery and lyrics. International Reggae Day: Dennis Brown: Live In Concert


dennisbrown1On International Reggae Day not only do we celebrate Reggae Music, but celebrate the lives of many who contributed to the genre. One artist who is celebrated today is the late Dennis Emmanuel Brown. Known as the “Crown Prince of Reggae“, Dennis Brown was a top tier Reggae artist who created beautiful songs that captured the hearts of many and influenced many upcoming artists. Having passed away on July 1, 1999, I use today to highlight one of his many concerts. Backed by Lloyd Parks and We The People Band, Dennis Brown had great stage presence and commanded the attention of patrons. Celebrate International Reggae Day with the Crown Prince of Reggae! Titled “Rebel Music“, this features Singers Ana and Trust and Reggae artist Biggz General. This unmixed version also features a sample from the late Dennis Brown. Here they speak on being a rebel against the system, having their own thoughts and standing out in everything. They also pay respect to famous rebels who fought for the rights of people. OLDIES SUNDAY: @DennisAlCapone – Teach The Children (Teacher Teacher) (1971)


Today’s Oldies Sunday selection comes from Reggae DJ and producer, Dennis AlCapone. Titled “Teach The Children (Teacher Teacher)” and produced by Duke Reid in 1971, AlCapone deejays about the activities that happen in the classroom with teachers and students. He spoke on children learning how to spell, speak foreign languages and show and tell along with students alerting teachers by saying “Teacher Teacher!“.
