Do you own Airpods? Neat lil things aren’t they? In promotion of one of Apple’s most popular devices, they released a Commercial today called “Bounce“. While they show off the versatility of the “pods”, we’re treated to the sounds of Recording Artist/Producer Tessellated (featured in one of our Producers to know articles) whose 2016 “I Learn’t Some Jazz Today” was the Commercial’s soundtrack! Featuring a sample of Jamaican born/US based Masego’s “YOU GON’ LEARN SOME JAZZ TODAY“, it’s only right you enjoy hearing this through your Airpods. For those unfamiliar, Tessellated was one of the featured acts on the popular single, “Pine & Ginger“!

If you’re into southern Hip Hop, you’d know that Rapper Big K.R.I.T. is releasing a new project soon. With the titled being “K.R.I.T. Iz Here“, expect nothing but dopeness from the “King Remembered In Time“. Recently he released “Addiction” featuring Recording Artist Saweetie, and legendary Rapper Lil Wayne, but the track features production from Rico Love, and legendary Dancehall (and many more genres) Producer Donovan Bennett a.k.a. Don Corleonie!

Don Corleonie’s name has been tied to hits from the likes of Sean Paul, Alaine, Sizzla, Protoje, and Vybz Kartel, and he has been working with International acts like Keyshia Cole, Rihanna, and Rico Love over the years. Based in California, he has been giving many of your favourites a dose of his signature sound that causes charting success.

Assisting with that, we go into Playlist mode and highlight the “Filthy Riddim” in our #13thStreetThrowback Playlist Series! The Riddim was released in 1998 and produced by Danny Browne for Mainstreet Records. It gave birth to some classics including Lady G.’s “Breeze Off“, Spragga Benz’s “She Nuh Ready Yet“, Mr. Vegas‘ “Heads High“, and General Degree’s “Traffic Blocking“.

Nicki Minaj is looking to cause problems with new music! While she has been enjoying the success of her “Queen” album, and promoting it worldwide, she’s looking to take over this summer with the new single, “Megatron“! While she kicks things off with a Mike Ho directed video, a familiar Jamaican Riddim can be heard throughout the Pop Wansel and NOVA Wav production. It is none other than Jamaican Producer Danny Browne’s “Filthy Riddim“! Released in 1998 through his Mainstreet Records, it is one of the latest Dancehall Riddims to have enjoyed sampling by a huge International Artist (In 2016, Richie Stephens’ “Sail Away Riddim” was sampled on Rihanna’s hit, “Work“!).

Deejay Shabba Ranks’ “Ting A Ling” was also sampled on “Megatron”. The track was released in 1992, and produced by Production duo Steely & Clevie (Who is Danny’s brother by the way) on the “Gi-Gi Riddim“. Knowing Nicki Minaj’s pull, expect “Megatron” to be streamed millions of times. Danny Browne’s “Filthy Riddim” featured the hits, “Heads High” by Mr. Vegas, “Breeze Off” by Lady G., and General Degree’s “Traffic Blocking“. Stay tuned to the Blog for a follow up Article.

Take A Trip Into @DiEnergist’s Mind On “Psycho”!

It’s been a while since we’ve seen and heard Kyng Tavii. While he has since done away with Comedy and dabbled a little in music, he was M.I.A. for a bit. Having been one of the early adopters of the Social Media Comedy lane in Jamaica, a week wouldn’t pass where he didn’t have a crazy skit posted online (like this one). Today, he gets on his music ting with the visual for, “Psycho (stream here)“! Handling the directorial duties with creative direction by Noel Smith, viewers are taken inside Kyng Tavii’s mind as he lets us know some of the things that pop up in there, and what he has been going through. While he’s living in his thoughts, he shares the ups and downs of fame, failing friends, and being his own friend. Take care of your Mental Health! We hope this is the start of more content from him.
