Pay Attention Returns With Heat For The Summer

Kingston, Jamaica: Lovers of Hip Hop music and lyricism will have to wait no longer as Kingston’s
premier Hip Hop event, Pay Attention, returns on Saturday, July 19 inside Club Indulge, South Beach
Café. The two-year old party and showcase series went on a short hiatus after its March staging this year to allow for expansion of the brand.
The local Hip Hop community has grown and there is more attention from the media than before,” says host and local rapper, TSD, “We played our part in that and we wanted to continue doing so, but by
creating more avenues. Hence, in the near future, we’ll be producing promotional mixes as well as visual content, for both online and television”.
The return of Pay Attention will feature resident DJ, Inztinkz, and Deadline Sound providing the musical  selections as well as performances by Wayne Hevy, Gamble G, Kash Kapri and Massy the Creator.
Gates open at 9 p.m. and showtime is set for 10:30 p.m. Admission is $600, while ladies are 2-for-1 until
showtime. Drink specials, courtesy of South Beach Café, will be available at the bar.

NEW MUSIC: @IAmTheKartel – Downtown Kingston

VybzKartelSumfestAnother day, another new Vybz Kartel single pops up, and we’re not mad at that! Titled “Downtown Kingston“, Kartel gives us the day to day happenings and what you can get in Downtown, Kingston. From beauty products to food to clothing, Downtown has it all. I love this single as it sounds like it could be Downtown’s theme song. You can never deny that Vybz Kartel is a lyricist and made a song for anything. If only Kartel didn’t get caught up in crime. Check out the track below and share your thoughts in the comments section.

NEW VIDEO: @BreakfastClubAM Interviews @KingBeenieMan

BMToday on Power 105.1’s “The Breakfast Club”, Dancehall artist Beenie Man made a guest appearance. Here he shared his thoughts on the T.I./Floyd Mayweather fight and cheating, Vybz Kartel’s current situation, Kingston, overseas acts recording in Jamaica, working with female artists, staying current after all these years, being a “Gallis“, his new EPThe Greatest Gallis“, avoiding beefs and his current tour. It’s still good to see Beenie doing his thing after so many years and he gets my respect for that. Beenie sure loves to “twang” (ha!). OLDIES SUNDAY: Courtney John – I Go Crazy (2000)

Today’s Oldies Sunday selection comes from Reggae artist formerly known as “Yogie“, Courtney John. Titled “I Go Crazy“, this was a Reggae remake of the 1977 Paul Davis song of the same name. “I Go Crazy” was featured on John’s debut album “Miracles” which was released in 2000. The song spoke about John meeting an old lover who he thought he has fully gotten over, only to end up recapturing feelings for her again. Produced by the artist himself, this delivered a beautiful production and recruited great back up singers. Although his first attempt in the entertainment industry started in 1993, “I Go Crazy” was Courtney John’s breakout single with a great music video to match.

NEW VIDEO: @OnstageTV Interviews @EmperorRanks

SRRecently Deejay Shabba Ranks made a visit to Jamaica but during his short stay he managed to do what he hasn’t done locally in decades…record music. Traveling with a mob in Half Way Tree, Winford Williams managed to catch Shabba to speak on a few things. Here Shabba spoke about being in Jamaica to celebrate Mother’s Day, recording in Jamaica for the first time in many years, visiting his old communities, his views on Dancehall recently including the conviction of Vybz Kartel, family life, and possibilities of performing in Jamaica again.
