Today we introduce to you another new series on the Blog. Teaming up with Zip 103 FM’s ZJ West we bring to you the “ZJ West YFF Remix” series! Also called “ZJWestYFFRMX” or “ZJ West Youngest Freshest Friday Remix“, our aim is to highlight the creativity of the ZJ that has been making noise over the years whether on the “Z” or in the streets! Our first entry is the “2 Phones (ZJWestYFFRemix)” featuring Vybz Kartel and US Rapper Kevin Gates. With a blend of Kartel’s “Hello Moto” and Kevin Gates’ “2 Phones”, listeners will enjoy the throwback Kartel (referred to as “Black Kartel“) and the energy off the platinum selling Rap single. The youngest Veteran Damian “Junior Gong” Marley recently stopped by Hot 97’s “Ebro In The Morning” Radio show. Hosted by Ebro, Laura Stylez and Peter Rosenberg, Gong spoke on his “Distant Relatives” collaborative album with Rapper Nas still being popular today, the Marley name still being a strong one, starting his own Medical Marijuana business with Ocean Grown Extracts, sharing his favourite songs from his father, his thoughts on Dancehall music today, being an advocate for the legalization of Marijuana in Jamaica and more. While “Distant Relatives” is still a popular album along with his solo albums and Ghetto Youths International compilations, I know fans are just waiting for the next solo project from the Gongzilla in January. Adding her own flair and sex appeal to the Dancehall scene is upcoming Recording Artist, Neeqah! Recently, she stopped by the Nightly Fix Radio Show for an Interview. Here she spoke with hosts Naro, Ari, DJ Burnz and Kimmi about her career including the singles “Hustler” and “Mr. Low Key” which was her first recorded song, her sex appeal, being the daughter of late Comedian Apache Chief and considering following her father’s footsteps into acting later down, collaborating with Popular Internet sensation Prince Pine, working with Quantanium Records, Lee Milla Productions, Big Ship Records, Kickraux, future collaborations and more. Chip Off The Old Block: Meet The New Kids Of Dancehall x Reggae (Pt. 3)

First they started out as the youth of the Dancehall/Reggae culture, now they’re parents with growing kids. It isn’t unusual for the child of an Entertainer to follow in their parent’s footsteps one way or the other as at times they bring a modern take on their parent’s creations, or create their own lane. Some of the most famous off springs include Stephen, Ziggy, and Damian “Junior Gong” Marley (Sons of Bob Marley), Chino and Di Genius (Sons of Freddie McGregor), Junior Tucker (Son of Jimmy Tucker), Morgan Heritage (Children of Denroy Morgan), Tarrus Riley (Son of Jimmy Riley), Queen Ifrica (Daughter of Derrick Morgan), Protoje (Son of Lorna Bennett), Chronixx (Son of Chronicle) and many more. In part 3 of a few part series, I feature more of the new set of kids on the scene whose parents have covered much ground in their respective careers.

NEW MUSIC: @DavianahMusic – Music Madness

Aiming to break out of the monotony today is singer Davianah with her latest single. Titled “Music Madness” and produced by Mark “Genaral” Thompson for Thompson House Music, Davianah gets at artists who fail to bring more positive subject matter to their audience and break out of the continuous stream of sexually charged lyrics being played on the airwaves. She also warns that the youths are listening to them and they are not setting a great example for them to follow. Davianah delivers on this one as this is a song you should keenly listen to. While it is true many of us listen and enjoy the sexually charged lyrics, at times we must make room for more positive lyrics and guide the youth along the way. Don’t turn the music to madness.
