.@ToryLanez Remixes @OriginalKoffee’s “Toast” On New Mixtape!

“Gwaan wid it, gwaan wid it…“

Some call him a “Remix God“, but Tory Lanez continues his run of remixes with the release of his latest mixtape, “International Fargo“! While folks are waiting for “Chixtape 5“, he holds over fans with this one. One track that stands out on this however is his remix of Jamaican Recording Artist on the rise, Koffee’s “Toast“! Produced by Walshy Fire and Izy Beats, Tory borrows the original and adds a few bars on it but left Koffee’s original parts on it. Tory also remixed the massively popular “Touchdown (Remix)” on his project which was originally done by UK Dancehall Artist Stylo G, Rapper Nicki Minaj, and Dancehall Icon Vybz Kartel, and dropped some lines on his remix to Dancehall/Afrobeats Artist Davido’s “Fall“.

With “Toast” cracking the 23 million mark on Youtube and showing up on Jordan Peele’s “US” movie, Koffee has a lot to give thanks for. We need a proper remix of “Toast” out here too featuring some of the established and upcoming names. “International Fargo” is out now, Koffee’s Rapture EP is out now, and you can check out the “Toast (Remix)” below. Nothing like a classic record isn’t it? Sometimes they don’t translate well with the new generation, and at times have to be tweaked a lil to get them to appreciate it. While this isn’t the case with today’s post, Jamaican Producer J.L.L. reimagines some of his favourite Bob Marley tunes with his latest remix project, “Vibes With Bob“. A Producer who we’ve included in our “Producers To Watch” feature and has made a name for himself through working with the likes of Chronixx, Smino, Royal Blu, Masego, Kranium, The Therapist, and Jane Macgizmo, this is a project to slowly enjoy like the sunset at your favourite location. Today we remember and celebrate the life and work of one of Jamaica’s most iconic Vocalists, the late Garnet Smith a.k.a. Garnett Silk! With April 2 marking his 53rd birthday, many would agree that the world lost this great Artist too soon. In true Blog fashion, we highlight some of his many hits in our latest Playlist titled, “Garnett Silk: Hatfield Legend“!

With nearly 3 hours worth of music, even if you weren’t familiar with his entire catalogue, this will cover some of his finest selections and even a couple collaborations. (Editor’s note: For those questioning the “Hatfield Legend” title, he was raised in Hatfield, Manchester, and has left a huge impact on the community decades after his death.) An Artist who has not only brought a different sound to Reggae, but has influenced Artists after him and many idolize him in various communities worldwide. Walk good Bimbo!

With lyrics that will have you thinking but also moving, Ghana is an Artist to watch this year and beyond. Ghana bites her tongue for no one however as she teams up with Producer Dale Virgo on “Silence The Dread“! Released through DZL Records, Ghana brings awareness to the many forms of abuse Women suffer at the hands of men all over the world. She also puts the spotlight on those who know about the abuse in the home, but turn a blind eye to it all. This song calls for more discussion on these matters, and more people to put into action that those who practice these types of abuse should be brought to justice.

Bringing a strong message during “Women’s History Month“, this is just a small part of Ghana’s rollout as she is finalizing her debut EP, “Gypsy Dread” to be released in June through DZL Records. If you were a witness to her live performances like at the recently held “9th Element” event in Kingston, then get ready for more as she plans to announce more shows in the coming days. It’s been a while since we’ve heard from DJ Fuse (o/c DJ Fusion and Kxng Fvse). Now a part of the Zip 103 FM family, he can be heard providing the scoop on the Jamaican Entertainment scene daily. While many missed his Mixtape offerings, he decided to try something different with his 1st in the “Infotainment Mix Series” mixtape. Powered by his FratSquad collective, not only will you hear Fuse mixing up some of your favourite Dancehall tunes, but he can be heard chopping it up with some of the movers and shakers in Entertainment.
