Jeremy Harding’s “Playground Riddim” Gets Sampled On @Mahalia & @BurnaBoy’s “Simmer”!

Posted on by swadedavillain

The season’s pretty hot, but you’re gonna need to cool down when UK Recording Artist/Actress Mahalia’s new tune drops! Teaming up with Nigeria Afrobeats Artist Burna Boy, they release “Simmer“! Produced by Jonah Christian and Felix Joseph, the Artists get into some relationship talk over a very familiar sample. Taking its place as an instantly recognizable sound is Jamaican Producer Jeremy Harding’s 1997 “Playground Riddim“! Released through the 2 Hard label, the Riddim featured Sean Paul’s “Infiltrate“, Cobra’s “Pet and Pamper“, Mr. Vegas’ “Nike Air“, and Beenie Man’s “Who Am I” a.k.a. “Sim Simma“! This isn’t the first time that the “Playground Riddim” has been sampled by Krept & Konan, and Bizzy Bone. Stay tuned to the Blog for a follow Article on this Riddim.

“Simmer” will appear on Mahalia’s debut album, “Love and Compromise” which will hit the streets in September. Sim Simma! Check out the tracks below, and share with a friend. Show us some love/follow us on Twitter and Instagram at @13thStreetPromo.

“GodFather, man a OG…“

Earlier this year, the Quartet of “Godfather of Grime” Wiley, Dancehall Icon Sean Paul, UK Bad Gyal Stefflon Don, and “The Black James Bond” Idris Elba released their collaborative single titled, “Boasty“. As they joined forces to give us a bassy track to keep us feeling swaggy, it was only right they followed up with a music video. Directed by Henry Scholfield, we get a dope performance of the track by the four Artists (except Wiley part was replaced by Child Actor, Brooklyn Appiah) in four different locations (they don’t meet up in the end though). While the track is steadily gaining steam, the video is a nice touch and will get you in the mood to be flashy. Check out the video below, and share with a friend. Produced by Thomas Mackenzie Bell, we get a fun song here as “The Godfather of Grime” chops it up with “Dutty Paul“, Steff, and “The Black James Bond” over a bouncy beat. Bruk Out Bruk Out To @DuttyPaul & @JheneAiko’s Video For “Naked Truth”!

Posted on by swadedavillain

“Bruk out, bruk out gyal yuh body nuh crawny...”

Sean Paul has been enjoying a successful Dancehall career for over 20 years, and we salute him. Showing that he has longevity (and a great team), he continues to make hits. Recently he surprised the world with a collab with renowned Recording Artist Jhene Aiko, and today we get the visual for “Naked Truth“. Directed by Michael Garcia, we see Sean and a leading lady battling it out via a Dance Off between their respective teams in a warehouse setting. While Jhene was noticeably absent in the video (bummer), the video will have some of pretending to know all the moves and ready to battle anyone. Shout out to the Choreographer responsible for this. Here’s to Sean Paul making more hits for years to come. Check out the video below and share with a friend. Show us some love/follow us on Instagram at @13thStreetPromo.
