We Look Back At Danny Browne’s “Filthy Riddim” In Our Throwback Playlist Series!

With Nicki Minaj’s “Megatron” single out and doing numbers, it’s only right you get a quick history lesson on the sample. Assisting with that, we go into Playlist mode and highlight the “Filthy Riddim” in our #13thStreetThrowback Playlist Series! The Riddim was released in 1998 and produced by Danny Browne for Mainstreet Records. It gave birth to some classics including Lady G.’s “Breeze Off“, Spragga Benz’s “She Nuh Ready Yet“, Mr. Vegas‘ “Heads High“, and General Degree’s “Traffic Blocking“.

Koffee and Govana have both been having a fantastic 2019. With their careers rising higher than ever, and the masses receiving their respective works wonderfully, the sky is definitely not the limit for them as they can go much further. Today however, after blessing us with the Rapture EP and the title track that has been a favourite for many of us, we get Koffee and Govana on the remix! While Koffee originally turned up the temperature on this, the “Genna Genna” applies his flow on the Lasanna Harris production like the lyrical Doctor he is. While I was hoping for some fresh lyrics from Koffee for the remix, the Spanish Town natives did their thing with this one. Video on the way too! Here’s to more Benzes, hit songs, and remixes (hint hint). Everybody get capture while the lyrics gi dem lockjaw!

Celebrating his 52nd birthday today, the “Fire Man” has definitely worked his way up to becoming one of legends in Jamaican music. From his early starts as a Dancehall Artist, to making a name for himself as a Def Jam signee, to dominating Reggae music later, the decades have been good to him. Today, we salute his great works with “The Ever Blazing Capleton Playlist“! Featuring hours of hits, you can’t go wrong with some fire in your life. What’s your favourite song from him?
