In the wake of this “Sting Season“, the news of Masicka parting ways with Konshens raised questions and of course choice words. Tonight Masicka aims to clear the air on the split and more with Winford Williams. Here he spoke on the events leading up to the split and not dissing Konshens, his “Loyalty” track, Sting 2014 and his willingness to clash with any artist, his feud with Demarco, his thoughts on Alkaline and Gage, and upcoming performances. Not a bad Interview, Masicka said a lot here and I’m looking forward to his gig at Sting and just maybe a little clash with Demarco. Tonight on Onstage, Clarendon born and UK based artist Randy Valentine stopped by. Here he spoke a little on his upbringing and musical background, introducing himself and his music to Jamaica, working on being the next Jamaican to make it overseas, and he premiered the music video for his single “Treat Her Right“. Short but a good Interview, looks like he’ll have a very promising career as that single is a hit! Check out the video below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
With Sting 2014 closing in, It’s only right that one of the contenders taunts his competition. Going at Alkaline and Gage today is Tommy Lee Sparta with “Bad Man Dawg“. Produced by UIM Records, the Sparta boss gets at the artists for dissing Vybz Kartel and claiming to be bad when to him they’re not. I’m looking forward to when they take it to the Sting stage and see who really comes out the winner. What do you think? Check out the track below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
With his name being mentioned during a war of words between Konshens and Demarco, Masicka did what any other artist would do and hit the recording booth. Aiming at Demarco is his effort titled “Cyah Frighten We“. Produced by Razzle Music, the Young General threw dart after dart at the “Puppy Tail” Deejay and makes it known that he’s not afraid of him. He also paid respect to other well respected lyricists in Dancehall. With Demarco and Konshens’ battle somewhat swept under a rug as of late, would a new one with Masicka be something to look forward to? Dancehall is very well known for the lyrical clashes so I guess we should stay tuned. Check out the track below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
Kym Hamilton formally known as “Gaza Kym” says she is here to stay! The Dancehall artiste who is popular for singles such as ‘Teenage Pregnancy’ featuring the controversial Vybz Kartel and ‘Amen’ on the popular English Town Riddim shares that she is no longer hiding from dancehall music and she is ready to take what is rightfully hers. “Many deejays don’t support my music because of my disassociation with Vybz Kartel years ago but I am here to do music and I am here to stay” shared Kym.
The ‘Nuh Behaviour’ artiste recently released her video for the single ‘Guns Out’ on the One Man Army Riddim, produced by New Elements Production and has been getting rotations on several radio stations. The single ‘Guns Out’ speaks about violence in the ghettos of Jamaica and urges the youth to do something productive with their lives. “I released Guns Out because of the stories I am hearing in the news about violence and I felt as though if change is to be made, it needs to start with us entertainers” shared Kym.
Kym has toured in several Caribbean countries and has been getting great support abroad on international airwaves but when it comes to Jamaica, Kym argues that she is yet to see the full support. She added, “We have to stand for something as entertainers, especially us females; I do not want to sell my music through propaganda, I am here to let my talent speak”.
The ‘Guns Out’ Singjay is also slated to release her new Dancehall single ‘Nuh Behaviour’ which she believes will create the buzz she needs in the industry. “Nuh Behaviour is a hardcore, bad gal song; it’s the other side of my music which I am eager to show” shared Kym.
The video for ‘Nuh Behaviour’ will be shot and released in December, just in time for the New Year.
