We Take A “Quick Throwback” Look Into @TheRoyalBlu’s “Legal Badman”!

Before Royal Blu, before “sinG with God“, before “El Fuego“, there was Sean-Michael Francis a.k.a. “Blu Kid“! In today’s episode of our “Quick Throwback” series, we go back to the year 2011 to hear BluKid’sLegal Badman“! Produced by Di Prodigyy, Blu sheds light on corruption in Jamaica’s Law Enforcement system where Police Officers abuse their powers and oppress many. Donning the role of a “Legal Badman“, they do whatever a Criminal would do, but shouldn’t face any repercussions because they wear the badge and the uniform.

Since the release of “Legal Badman”, BluKid went on to make some noise with the “Lethal Audio” Band, changed his name to “Royal Blu“, and released enough songs to make him one of the emerging young acts on the radars of many in Jamaica and overseas. Stay tuned for another quick throwback!

We Take A “Quick Throwback” Look Into @KabakaPyramid’s “Empty Souls”!

Before Kabaka Pyramid the Reggae Artist, before “Kontraband” hits the Internet, before “King Kabaka” ran the place, and before “Well Done” rocked the nation, there was the Rapper Keron Salmon a.k.a. “Ronny Pyramid” and he’s featured in our latest “Quick Throwback“! Going back to the year 2008, we check his track “Empty Souls“! Produced by Kevin Coates, Kabaka handles a sample based Production as he delivers some conscious Rap about saving those empty souls out there with the “doctrine from the Lost Papyrus“. The song also paid tribute to the late Rap Brown, a Rapper on the rise who was a part of Kabaka’s Bebble Rock crew, and known in the Jamaican Hip Hop scene.

Since the release of “Empty Souls”, Kabaka merged his Hip Hop influences with his Reggae side and became one of the prominent figures in the “Reggae Revival” movement along with Protoje, Jah 9, Jesse Royal, and many more. He has since released a few projects, and is looking to release his debut Album, “Kontraband” in May 2018. Stay tuned for another quick throwback!

We Take A “Quick Throwback” Look Into @TheKhxos’ “Watch Yuh Frenz”

Before there was Khxos, before “Dopamine“, before “If God Was Like Man“, there was Khaos a.k.a. “King Squady“. In our 3rd post in our “Quick Throwback” series, we go back to the year 2010 to hear Khxos’ “Watch Yuh Frenz” track! Produced by Kris Beatz, Khxos gives us one of his earliest songs with a message as he advises listeners to watch who you affiliate yourself with in life. He warns against fake friends who smile in your face, and stab you in the back when the opportunity arises. Since his 2010 effort, Khxos has made a couple name changes, and has created a buzz for himself thanks to various singles over the years. He is currently working on the follow up to his 2017 debut album, “Dopamine“. Stay tuned for another throwback next week!

We Take A “Quick Throwback” Look Into @Aidonia4thGenna’s “Lord Of The Blings”

Before “JOP” became a team you wanted to be a part of, and before the “4th Genna“, there was Idonia otherwise known as Aidonia! In our 2nd issue of our new “Quick Throwback” series, we go back to the year 2004 to hear one of Aidonia’s early recorded singles, “Lord Of The Blings“. Produced by Rockcliffe (Rodcliffe) Pinnock for Orizen Entertainment, “Didi” gets into “flossing” mode as he speaks on living a lavish lifestyle, and calls himself the “Lord Of The Blings“. Since then, Aidonia has moved on to recording his first hit (“Lolly“) with “Skatta” Burrell, to being a member of Bounty Killa’s “The Alliance”, bringing his “JOP (Jag One Productions)” clique to the forefront, being respected as one of Jamaica’s top lyricists, feuding with a few Artists including Vybz Kartel, Munga, and Masicka, and of course making underground and mainstream hit songs. It’s Ai-di-di-di-DONIA! Stay tuned for another throwback next week.

We Take A “Quick Throwback” Look Into @BlvkH3ro’s “Live This Life”

Before there was a “Blvk H3ro” and the locks, there was Hervin Bailey Jr., and today we go back in time with our new series, “Quick Throwback“! Looking back into H3ro’s first recorded release, “Live This Life“, this was produced by Leon-Pierre Answer for Mhadboxx Productions and released in 2014 (While it was written well before that). In the song he speaks on being fed up from not always having it, working hard for nothing, dreams, his experience with the 9 to 5 life, and shares encouragement throughout to those who are going through it. For those who are new to the Artist, you can hear him developing his signature sound here. The journey may be rough, but it takes a lot to get where you need to be. Discovered What? We look Back At Burning Spear’s “Columbus” (1980)

We wanted to drop this yesterday on “Oldies Sunday“, but didn’t get to. While today many Americans recognize “Columbus Day“, many folks have done their revision on World History over the years, and have since challenged the higher ups to discredit the “Discoveries” of Christopher Columbus and recognize the day as “Indigenous Peoples Day“. While the European Explorer made his travels with the Pinta, Nina, and Santa Maria, he couldn’t have discovered land that was already occupied. Calling him out on the claims is Reggae Icon Burning Spear with “Columbus“!

Released in 1980, and featured on his Album “Hail H.I.M.“, Spear calls out Columbus as a “Damn blasted liar” and sets the record straight on what the Explorer really did. He didn’t discover Jamaica or all the lands he has claimed to discover! What happened to the Arawak people? What happened to the black people that were already here? Why are they still celebrating this man? There have been protests for years, and there will be more until the day is more recognized for Indigenous People (big up the 55 cities in the US that have made the change). Stay woke! Have a listen to the tune below.
