After closing “Dancehall Night” of Reggae Sumfest 2013, Reggae artist I Octane was requested to do the same task at the 2014 event. With news of this members of the music fraternity were not pleased and expressed how they felt about it. One of his detractors include Mr. Vegas. Tonight on Onstage I Octane had a quick chat with Winford Williams. Here he spoke about keeping current, his issue with Mr. Vegas, his thoughts on closing Reggae Sumfest, encouraging the older acts to give the youth a chance in the music business, what to expect with his Sumfest performance, his recent gigs overseas and the success from them, and wanting to inspire many. A good interview here, I Octane really handled himself well with last year’s Reggae Sumfest and despite Vegas’ remarks, he will do a good job at this year’s staging. Known for his cover songs on his Youtube Channel, Lucas DiPasquale’s popularity grew even more when he covered a medley of songs from Jamaica’s own Popcaan. Tonight, he joins the Onstage set for an Interview. Here he spoke on discovering Dancehall music and loving it, being in Jamaica for the first time, his very popular video, growing up in Canada, looking to further his music career, and studying media in College. He also performed the medley of Popcaan songs and other covers live. It’s good when people from other nationalities embrace Reggae and Dancehall music. They may not even understand Patois but they can sing every word. Much respect to Lucas, he got the official Onstage “Buss“!. With news of her signing to Island Kings Records, Tifa has been toiling hard over the years to become a success in the Dancehall scene. Sitting on the set for the first time, she had a chat with Winford Williams about that and more. Here she spoke on the details of her new record deal, furthering her global popularity, her single “Body Up” being featured in the Netflix series “Hemlock Grove“, working on a music video for “Back It Up” and the success of that single, getting her start in her music career, the challenges she’s faced before and during her career, proving many people wrong with her talent, avoiding conflicts in the Music Fraternity and encouraging unity among female artists, releasing her first big budget music video and hosting an event for it, Reggae Sumfest 2014, future projects and endorsements. From New York to Jamaica, Kranium has been steadily making a name for himself in the Dancehall scene. With his single “Nobody Has To Know” burning up airwaves to even being cosigned by Rapper Drake, Kranium stopped by Onstage for the first time to further “Buss” himself to the Jamaican public. Here he spoke about his upbringing in New York, getting his start in the music business including toiling to get a break in New York, the success of “Nobody Has To Know” and the story behind it, and furthering his success with future projects. Not a bad Interview here, Kranium also presented the music video to his single. I respect what Kranium has done and as Winford described it, his success is one of the rare ones. When he wins, Jamaica wins. Check out the video below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
