NEW MUSIC: @Slim_ID – Energy Freestyle

Today’s new music comes from Jamaican Hip Hop artist, Slim I.D. Freestyling over Drake’s “Energy” where producers Mercutio and Dennis added their spin on it, Slim drops witty lines about enemies, fake friends trying to take away his energy, getting girls even with owning a Blackberry, and running the game even when he’s not at the forefront. Slim I.D. may have taken a stab at the “IYRTITL” track, but which beat is next? He aims to broaden his reach this year with his clever rhymes and working with great producers. Check out the track below and share your thoughts in the comments section.

NEW VIDEO: @TuchPointMusic Presents: @TeffTV – Too Sober

Tefftv

This goes out to all those who just wanna have fun. Today’s new lyric video comes from Dancehall artist Teff. Titled “Too Sober“, was directed by The Parris Agency who brought lots of neon colours to compliment the track. On the single, produced by TuchPoint Music on the “Clarendon Riddim“, Teff speaks on showing interest in the ladies, but is not looking for love. Teff also states that he’s too drunk to care, and too sober to fall in love with anyone. A great effort here as this is the single that requires you to grab a girl out of the crowd and let her grind on you. Enjoy the moments responsibly and listen out for more singles off the Clarendon Riddim. Check out the video below and share your thoughts in the comments section.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Happy Birthday @HarryBelafonte x Banana Boat Song (1956)

Today’s Oldies Sunday is dedicated to Singer, Actor and Activist, Harry Belafonte who celebrates his 88th birthday. His most famous song, “Banana Boat Song (Day O)” is the featured selection. Released in 1956 by RCA and written by Irving Burgie and William Attaway, this was adapted from the song Jamaican Banana Workers would sing while they toiled on the docks. The song was also featured on Belafonte’s million unit selling “Calypso” album. Harry achieved great success with this single as it peaked at #5 on the Billboard charts in 1957, made its debut performance on The Muppet Show, made an appearance in the 1988 film “Beetlejuice“, has over the years been covered by many artists, and sampled by Lil Wayne on the track “6 Foot 7 Foot“. Despite the previous version of the song and the covers, Harry Belafonte’s version stood out the most and has become one of his signature songs.

Battling ugly girls shouldn’t be something Singer IKaya does but with her new single, she does just that. Here on Onstage she speaks on her new single “Ugly Girl“, her career so far, her greatest moments in her career, aiming to bring more positive and empowering music, and fighting against violence against women. A good interview here, IKaya also premiered her “Ugly Girl” music video. IKaya is a dope artist and I do wish her more success in the future. NEW VIDEO: @OnstageTV Interviews @LeftsideDrEvil

Leftside

With hits and productions to his name, Leftside has carved a lane for himself in Dancehall music. Formerly a part of the duo, “Leftside and Esco“, he joins Winford Williams to speak on a few things. Here he addressed his split with Esco, his career so far as an artist and producer, and more. He also premiered a new music video and featured songs from his “Sax On The Beach Riddim“. It’s really unfortunate how two childhood friends end up being at odds. I do hope they fix this or go their separate ways. Much luck to Leftside for 2015. Check out the interview below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
