@IAmRaytid Is Still Making An Impact In Dancehall & Soca

While it has been over a year since the release of the monstrous hit single “Blahdaff”, it is still a crowd favorite in Dancehall and Soca parties worldwide, and is paving the way for Recording Artist Raytid’s newest hit, “Caribbean Girls”. “Caribbean Girls”, which is featured on True Gift Entertainment’s “Tropical Punch Riddim”, is already a favorite in small Islands such as The British Virgin Islands, St.Lucia, Guyana and Trinidad.

“Blahdaff” was released early last year and the official video has surpassed the two million views mark on Youtube. Raytid has also shown his versatility by recording “My Days” on the “Tears of Joy Riddim”, which is also another crowd favourite. Songs such as “Dinki” on Blaqk Sheep’s “Swahili Riddim” and “Even Though You Gone” on the “Different Eyes Riddim” continue to get favourable spins in the USA and Africa. According to Raytid, “People might say after “Blahdaff” I disappeared but I am here, still putting in the work, and focusing on the world, not just Half Way Tree.”

His single, “Caribbean Girls” is currently number three on Lits Radio’s top 5 Caribbean songs in Canada. Raytid is also promoting the single “Holiday Again” which is a collaboration with himself and Demarco featuring Bravo Ravers while still pushing other tracks such as “Prove Yuhself”, “Wine And Go Dung”, and “Fifty Shades Of White”. JoshERA: Basically… REM is a group of friends [more like family] and we put all our talents in music [DJ, Production, Artistry] and in Art [Photography, Graphics] in all forms. REM ENTERTAINMENT now is the sound made complete with DJ Kelly, DJ Laing and myself.

We play out at various events bring a unique energy and vibes to the crowd. REM itself stands for Rapid Eye Movement, just in case you weren’t aware.

Sef: Very interesting, surely seeing the correlation between your work as creatives and the dream state; I believe much of our creativity comes from the subconscious. I also do know versatility is key to gain credibility as a Jamaican DJ so what genres of music do you prefer to work with when mixing?

JoshERA: Versatility is very key and when I’m DJing I try to mix it up at all times – from old school hip-hop and rap to current Dancehall to current Hip Hop. I personally prefer current Hip Hop/Dancehall though.

@MrLevy411 Stole The Show At @ReggaeSumfest 2016!

Platinum Camp Records CEO Daddy Biggs and the team behind Reggae Sumfest 2016 presented for the first time ever, Barrington Levy and Beenie Man together on stage in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Together they performed their mega hit single “Murderer” which sent the crowd in a frenzy during the historic performance. It became a diplomatic affair as Biggs arranged for Rapper Shyne to fly to Jamaica from Belize to join Levy a.k.a. “Mellow Canary” for a surprise performance of their hit records “Bad Boys” and “Bonnie and Shyne”. The crowd erupted as the Hip Hop and Reggae Artists joined forces. It was a night of sheer pandemonium to see the two “bad boys” walk on stage for a final showdown.

In another interesting move, Daddy Biggs has arranged a Latin American and a European tour for Levy in the final quarter of 2016 which commences in Chile in October. Barrington Levy is also promoting his latest single “G.S.O.A.T”, which means “Greatest Survivor of All Time”. The song is an excellently crafted masterpiece that is set to be released on August 6th to commemorate the great survivors of Jamaica and its Independence.

10 Jamaican Moments On @BodegaBoys With @DesusNice x @TheKidMero!

Bodega Boys” is a Podcast series created by Social Media/Internet/TV Personalities Desus Nice and The Kid Mero and features a dose of their irreverent yet hilarious takes on Pop Culture. Sponsored by Red Bull and recorded at the Red Bull Studios in New York, this is another avenue that gave the hosts a huge following since their previous Podcast (Desus Vs Mero), and their TV stints (Uncommon Sense, Joking Off, Guy Code). What makes their content even more interesting is the fact that the Bronx based Desus and Mero were born to Immigrant Parents (Jamaican and the Dominican Republic respectively) and they share experiences dealing with them and the different cultures. Below are 10 Jamaican moments featured on their “Bodega BoysPodcast.

Ep. 16: “Jamaica is the shining star of the Caribbean”

When co-host The Kid Mero asked Desus Nice if Jamaica was considered a 3rd World country, Desus quickly fired back saying it wasn’t, but created the film, “Third World Cop“. He further elaborated to say Jamaica invented everything including Reggae/Dancehall Music and Bob Marley, then went overboard with saying they invented Marijuana, Shipping Barrels, white Jeans, and Mesh Merinos. He also added that they utilized Tanks to store drinking water, claimed to be the home of the most beautiful women in the world and never took a loss when it came to fighting on the train.

Ep. 7: “Irie!”

Desus and Mero discussed Wrestling and what roles they’d play if they were hired as Tag Team Wrestlers. While Mero spoke on representing the Dominican Republic, Desus spoke on being a Wrestler representing Jamaica named “Kid Montego Bay” with attire consisting of a Mesh Merino, and plays on a bad Jamaican stereotype kind of like a character from “Cool Runnings” (or any “Jamaican” character in movies) where he smokes a spliff, using “Irie“, “We Jammin‘”, and “Big up” as catchphrases.

Ep. 6: “Yuh have a big face…”

Desus made reference to an NY Times article about the rising popularity of Jamaican food. The article detailed where to get it from and name dropped “Miss Lilly’s“, a popular Jamaican Dining spot in New York. Desus went on to advise listeners that the best Jamaican dining spots are located in Flat Bush, White Plains Rd, Boston Rd, and 2nd Ave in Mt. Vernon in New York. The downside to those locations are bad service, and they are usually in “dangerous” areas but serve great food nonetheless. He also presented scenarios where if a Vegan asks for “Gluten Free” meals, they will be attacked, or be given a stare down. He then spoke on an Aunt who runs a Restaurant and paints a picture of how the meeting will occur including being insulted by her at first glance. Then supported Desus’ statements by saying if you are served food in under 30 minutes, then it won’t be enjoyable, and most times when you order a meal, it will already by sold out even after confirming the order.

@DonAndre Delivers Explosive @ReggaeSumfest Performance!

Reggae Sumfest Dancehall night was a success for fresh on the scene, hit maker, Don Andre. He celebrated the top Dancehall collaboration of the year alongside Ding Dong and Chi Ching Ching with a well-received high-energy performance. He also performed his new track Jog honoring Usain Bolt while flying the Jamaican flag high.

Later in the show Spice hurled insults at the fast-rising star. Don Andre is very displeased that she used his record in her set in an attempt to publicly insult his style and sexual preference. According to the artiste this is what happens with success, there is always someone who will try to bring you down.

“Anywhere there is success there is always a hater trying to stop it. Tom Cruise is in high rotation in several countries and the most popular Dancehall move right now. I just got an award from veteran sound system Stone Love to endorse that.

Spice needs to just leave me alone and work on getting an up to date number one song like, Tom Cruise. Her last number one was two years ago. Right now she’s working desperately in the streets for a song to hit like Tom Cruise.

Spice needs to find back her gear; she’s running out of steam. She should focus on her botched assets and figure out how she’s going to get them corrected and leave me out of her loose arguments,” Don Andre says.

Don Andre is billed to appear at Philadelphia Jerk Festival on August 28th in Fairmount Park.
