US Rapper Ski Mask The Slump God has been one of the names that gained notoriety in the Hip Hop scene since the mid 2010s. Hailing from Broward County, Florida and raised by Jamaican parents, he made noise in the underground scene, and was a part of the generation that includes the late XXX Tentacion, Lil Uzi Vert, and Trippie Redd. Today, he released his latest album, “11th Dimension“, and has brought along a friend from Jamaica on one of the album’s tracks.

On track 15 off of Ski Mask The Slump God’s “11th Dimension” called “From Yard“, Dancehall Artist Skillibeng makes a guest appearance. Produced by Max Lord and Car!ton, Ski Mask and Skilli trade bars and flows throughout the track, tapping into some Jamaican elements as well. Skillibeng continues to rack up International features, which will in turn grant him even more International bookings and features. He is still reeling off of the success of his “Jump” feature with Tyla and Gunna, and we can expect a lot more from him later this year. Ski Mask The Slump God’s “11th Dimension” album is out now on all digital music streaming platforms.

Recording Artist Bayka is one of the names to know when it comes to the Trap Dancehall, and he aims to level up this year, and beyond. The year has seen him release a number of singles and videos, but the people have been wanting more from the Artist. He has heard them, and he delivers with his official Mixtape, “Mob Ties“.

Featuring 13 tracks, Bayka levels up with his debut Mixtape, “Mob Ties”. The project highlights an Artist who has been building his name for a number of years, and has different sounds and styles for every type of Bayka listener. Production on “Mob Ties” come from the likes of Zimi Records, Yo Christon, Sean God, and The Fanatix while Najeeriii joins Bayka on one track. We can expect a different kind of energy from Bayka for the rest of the year, and “Mob Ties” will set the tone.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Mr. G (Goofy) – Dog Bark (1996)

It’s a new month, and we want to start it off in a comedic way on “Oldies Sunday“. For today’s selection, we go back in time to check out Mr. G (also known as Goofy)’s single, “Dog Bark“.

Produced by Steely & Clevie on the “Colombian Necktie Riddim” and released through Studio 2000 in 1996, the pursuit of some loving is disturbed by a few things in “Dog Bark”. Mr. G pursues a young lady in this adventure, and they have decided to have some fun in the dark in a not so convenient space. Despite it being a spontaneous way of connecting, the disturbance of dogs and a furious weapon-wielding Father who believes in the security of his family take over the situation, and could end with Mr. G admitted to the Hospital, or laid to rest. Mr. G always delivered some of his music in a comedic way (thanks to his own vocal version of the Disney character “Goofy”), and “Dog Bark” was instantly met with positive reviews. It also gave the Deejay a #1 placement on Jamaica’s music charts, and its accompanying Llewellyn O’Reggio-directed Music Video further showcased his comedic side.

Since the release of “Dog Bark”, Mr. G continued to have a successful career throughout the 90s, 2000s, and beyond as a Recording Artist, and Producer. He has assisted in the development of a number of Artists, and is still actively recording, performing, and releasing music. “Dog Bark” is still loved and played by many today.

Dancehall Artist Vybz Kartel along with three of his co-accused will have to fight a little harder as it has been announced that their bail has been denied. Vybz Kartel has been incarcerated since 2011, and was given the official sentencing in 2014, and since then there have been attempts for an appeal which was made successful earlier this year through the Privy Council. Given the circumstances, many are very eager to see their favourite Artist back in the streets, and back around those who love him, but they just have to wait a little longer. With that said, here are some reactions below. Retrial is set for June 10.
