It nah go nice unless Jamaicans are on it! Recently, Recording Artist Ed Sheeran has been blessing listeners with new music, namely his upcoming “No. 6 Collaborations Project“. One of the tracks that is doing its rounds is his collab with Justin Bieber titled, “I Don’t Care“. Today, Chronixx and Koffee combine their powers to deliver us a remix! While they give us that Dancehall Reggae vibes, Chronixx and Koffee basically own the song as Ed and Justin are left to just give us the chorus. Expect this one to make a lot of noise this summer. If she loves you like Keyshia loves Guwop, then it’s real. While Ed Sheeran and Justin Biber dabbled in a lil Reggae and Dancehall in their careers, we’d love some proper Dancehall/Reggae collaborations in the future, and level the playing field. One complaint I have is, if you’re going to have Jamaicans on a pop track, at least make the Youtube link playable in Jamaica (This is BS).
In case you didn’t know, popular Afrobeat Recording Artist Mr. Eazi released the 2nd volume in his “Life Is Eazi” mixtape series. With a blend of new sounds and familiar names, this project is one to keep on repeat. One of the familiar names that appears on the project is Jamaica’s own Chronixx on the track “She Loves Me“. With a rather upbeat production, the duo speak on the roller coaster loving they each experience with their respective love interests. A song many can relate to as mixed signals can be a detriment to a budding relationship, and then there are those who have ulterior motives. Be careful as to not let another person misuse your love. Mr. Eazi’s project is out now, but you can check out “She Loves Me” below (be sure to share with a friend). Show us some love on Instagram at @13thStreetPromo.
As 2017 comes to a close, we look back at a few songs that were favourites on the Blog for the year. While we can’t name EVERY one, we’ll give you 5 (in no particular order so hold off on the ego) to reminisce on, or get familiar with.
Our second to last pick today comes from the “Dread and Terrible” Chronixx with “Christina“! The single is track #15 off his Grammy nominated debut Album, “Chronology” which was released in July. Featuring Stephen “Di Genius” McGregor as the Producer, and contribution from Blues Guitar legend Donald Kinsey, Chronixx speaks on believing in himself and working towards his dreams despite facing opposition from his then partner, Christina. The message in this is to never let anything stop you from pursuing your dreams. Leave those that doubt in the back, and move forward. A video for this would be lovely (tell Chronixx and his Manager Daddi Barnz that we have some ideas) however. If you missed our previous picks, check them out here. Hear “Christina” below!
We’ve featured this single a few months ago and heard greatness from what some may call a unique pairing but recently, Recording Artist Allan Kingdom took the trip to Jamaica, called up Chronixx and brought to us “Fables“. Directed by Martin C. Pariseau and starring Damanhi Mcghuie and Oprah Forknot, the Artists share their stories on breaking stereotypes, refuting things that they’ve heard about growing up to be fables, and standing out while connecting with nature. These lyrics blend in with the visual as we see a young man taking the trek to discover his own truth by leaving his home and finding a woman who lives by a river. Off Allan’s “Northern Lights“, check out the video below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
Two of the leading men in the new Reggae Movement, Protoje and Chronixx, are a part of Coachella 2016, one of the largest Music Festivials in the world. Bringing some of the Island flavour to the U.S., fans locally and abroad will be prepared to hum, jam, and rave to every lyric from the two. Weren’t able to be there? Catch both artists via the Live stream channels below!
Protoje & The Indiggnation (4PM)
Chronixx & Zinc Fence Redemption Band (5:05PM)
When it comes to the herbs, it’s all about the right specimen and today Chronixx and Jahkime speak on it in their visual for “Perfect Tree“. Directed by AllEyesOnIt, we get a little lecture from the “Odd Ras” then Jahkime joins him later to kick off lyrics over an old school Hip Hop production (Blackstar x Common’s “Respiration”). Off the “Roots and Chalice” Mixtape it’s time to roll one up, check out the video below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
